Ærøskøbing Municipality (Danish : Ærøskøbing Kommune, pronounced [ˈeːˌʁøˀsˌkʰøˀpe̝ŋ kʰoˈmuːnə] ) is a former municipality of Funen County on the island of Ærø. The municipality was formed in 1970 and disestablished in 2006 when it was integrated into Ærø Municipality.
The municipality was located on the western portion of the island of Ærø. Its neighboring municipality Marstal occupied the eastern portion of the island. To the north and west are the waters of the Little Belt. To the south is the Baltic Sea, and to the southeast are the waters of Marstal Bay (Marstal Bugt).
Before the municipality was established, the administrative region was originally named West-Æro Municipality (Danish:Vest-Æro Kommune), and . Following the 1970 Danish Municipal Reform, it was given its official name.
The municipality covered an area of 74 km², and had a total population of 3,731 (2005). The town of Ærøskøbing served as the seat of its municipal council.
On 1 January 2006 Ærøskøbing Municipality ceased to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), when Ærøskøbing merged with Marstal municipality and formed the new Ærø municipality. The result was a municipality with an area of 91 km² and a total population of 6,939 (2005). The new municipality became part of the Region of Southern Denmark.
Its last mayor, Jørgen Otto Jørgensen, was a member of the Social Democrats party. He became the mayor of the newly formed Ærø municipality, an office he held twice, from 2006 until 2010 and again from 2014 to 2017. [1]

Nakskov is a town in south Denmark. It is situated in Lolland municipality in Region Sjælland on the western coast of the island of Lolland. The town has a population of 12,707. To the west is Nakskov Fjord, an inlet from the Langeland Belt (Langelandsbælt) that runs between the islands of Lolland and Langeland. Nakskov Fjord is a wildlife reserve, known for its bird life.

The municipality included the islands of Strynø and Strynø Kalv, and covered an area of 63 km². It had a total population of 6,676 (2005). Its last mayor was Johan Norden, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Rudkøbing. Part of the former municipality's southern border is defined by the Lindelse Cove. A bridge connects the former municipality at the town of Rudkøbing over the islands of Siø and Tåsinge to the town of Svendborg on the island of Funen.
Until January 1, 2007 Tranekær municipality was a municipality in the former Funen County on the island of Langeland in south-central Denmark. The municipality included the islands of Siø, and covered an area of 107 km2. It had a total population of 3,467 (2005). Its last mayor was Jørgen Nielsen, a member of the Venstre political party.
Marstal municipality, is a former municipality in Funen County on the island of Ærø in southern Denmark. Since 1 January 2006 it has been part of Ærø municipality. Its territory included the islands of Birkholm and Halmø, and covered an area of 17 km². In 2005, it had a total population of 3,208. Its last mayor was Karsten Landro, a member of the Conservative People's Party political party.
Svendborg municipality is a municipality in Region of Southern Denmark on the southeast coast of the island of Funen, as well as on the islands of Drejø, Hjortø, Skarø, Thurø, and Tåsinge off Funen's southeastern shores in south-central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 54 km2, and had a total population of 5,190 (2006). Its last mayor was Erik Christensen, a member of the Social Democrats.
The Region of Southern Denmark is an administrative region of Denmark established on Monday 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, which abolished the traditional counties ("amter") and set up five larger regions. At the same time, smaller municipalities were merged into larger units, cutting the number of municipalities from 271 before 1 January 2007 to 98. The reform diminished the power of the regional level dramatically in favor of the local level and the central government in Copenhagen. The Region of Southern Denmark has 22 municipalities. The reform was implemented in Denmark on 1 January 2007, although the merger of the Funish municipalities of Ærøskøbing and Marstal, being a part of the reform, was given the go-ahead to be implemented on Sunday 1 January 2006, one year before the main reform. It borders Schleswig-Holstein (Germany) to the south and Central Denmark Region to the north and is connected to Region Zealand via the Great Belt Fixed Link.
Until 1 January 2007, Ebeltoft municipality was a municipality in Aarhus County on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The region lies in a geographic region known as southern Djursland, and more specifically Mols. The municipality covered an area of 276 km2, and had a total population of 14.997 (2003). Its last mayor was Jørgen Brøgger. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Ebeltoft.
