Çamyayla is a village in the Ayancık District of Sinop Province, Turkey. [1] Its population is 88 (2022). [2] The village economy is based on agriculture and animal husbandry. It is 72 km from Sinop and 13 km from Ayancık.

The Vilayet of Kastamonu was a first-level administrative division (vilayet) of the Ottoman Empire, established in 1867 and abolished in 1922. At the beginning of the 20th century, the vilayet reportedly had an area of 19,300 square miles (50,000 km2), while the preliminary results of the first Ottoman census of 1885 gave the population as 1,009,460. Yenikent is a village in Gerze District of Sinop Province, Turkey. Its population is 839 (2022). Before the 2013 reorganisation, it was a town (belde). It is on Turkish state highway D.010 which connects Sinop to Samsun. Distance to Gerze is 12 kilometres (7.5 mi). The former name of the settlement refers to people who escaped from Georgia during the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878). The settlement was declared a seat of township in 1990. But because of emigration to cities the population of the town has since been decreased.

The Boyabat Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Kızılırmak River bordering Sinop and Samsun Provinces, Turkey. It is 8 km (5 mi) southwest of Durağan and 24 km (15 mi) southeast of Boyabat. Construction began in 2008 and the dam and power plant were completed in December 2012. Its primary purpose is to generate hydroelectric power. The dam's power plant has an installed capacity of 513 MW.

The Sinop Nuclear Power Plant is a proposed nuclear plant in Turkey located at Sinop on the Black Sea. Negotiations with Rosatom started in 2022. If constructed, it will be the country's second nuclear power plant after the projected Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2021 Turkish floods</span> August 2021 flooding in Turkey

In August 2021, the Black Sea region in Turkey was affected by catastrophic flooding, as a series of thunderstorms that began on 7 August 2021 and continued until the 14th in northern Turkey caused several floods and landslides. The water rose to 4 metres (13 ft) in some locations, and the floods have been described as the worst in Turkey's history. 97 people died and about 228 more were injured in the floods, and more than 1800 people were evacuated as many people were rescued from rooftops. Reports have shown that at least 454 buildings had sustained significant damage. Bridges were also damaged or destroyed, and the infrastructure of multiple towns were significantly affected. Experts have stated that urbanization and climate change in Turkey have made the floods' worse, although to what extent each factor was responsible has been disputed.
