The İzmir Blue Train (Turkish : İzmir Mavi Tren) is one of the 3, still operating, " Blue Train " services.

The train made its first run on 17 May 1984. At first, the train was operating between Alsancak station in İzmir and Central Station in Ankara. But in 2006, due to construction works of IZBAN, the terminus in Izmir was transferred to Basmane station but remained there even after the IZBAN went into service. And since 2016, the eastern terminus of the service was shortened to Eskişehir due to the Başkentray project. In 2018, service started back between Ankara-İzmir. [2]

Halkapınar Transfer Center, commonly referred to as Halkapınar Metro or just Halkapınar, is a multi-modal transportation complex in İzmir, Turkey. Located in northeast Konak, it is the largest transportation complex in İzmir, as well as the Aegean Region. The complex offers connections between İZBAN commuter rail service, İzmir Metro rapid transit service, Tram İzmir tram service and ESHOT city bus service. Halkapınar Transfer Center was originally opened in 1865 as a railway station. The transfer center opened on 22 May 2000 together with a new metro station and bus terminals and was the first complex to offer direct connection between heavy rail and rapid transit service in Turkey.

The Karesi Express(Turkish: Karesi Ekspresi) was an overnight train, operating between Alsancak Terminal, İzmir and Central Station, Ankara. The train was one of two current train services between İzmir and Ankara. The eastbound journey took about 14 hours and 16 minutes, while the westbound journey took about 14 hours and 45 minutes. The Karesi Express serviced 6 provincial capitals: İzmir, Manisa, Balıkesir, Kütahya, Eskişehir and Ankara.

İZBAN, previously known as Egeray, is a commuter rail system serving İzmir and its metropolitan area, mainly on a north–south axis, via two lines: The Northern Line and the Southern Line. Averaging a daily ridership of 185,000 passengers, it is the busiest commuter rail system in Turkey, slightly ahead of the Marmaray commuter line in Istanbul. İZBAN is a portmanteau of the words "İzmir" and "Banliyö".

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Southern Line (İZBAN)</span>

The Southern Line is an electrified commuter rail line running south from Alsancak Terminal in Izmir to Torbalı operated by İZBAN, using trackage owned by the Turkish State Railways. The route services the densely populated areas of western Buca and central Gaziemir as well as Adnan Menderes International Airport via the rebuilt airport station. Between 2010 and 2016 the southern terminus of the line was Cumaovası near Menderes. On 6 February 2016, the line was extended about 30 km (19 mi) south to Tepeköy in Torbalı and on 9 September 2017 extended further south to Selçuk.

The Blue Train is the Turkish State Railways premier passenger train service started in the 1980s. The first Blue Train operated between İstanbul and Ankara, entering service in 1979. More Blue Train services were added later on. The İzmir Blue Train, Central Anatolia Blue Train, Çukurova Blue Train and 4th of September Blue Train were are overnight trains. These trains had custom railcars, built by TÜVASAŞ, all painted blue with a blue painted DE 24000 series locomotive pulling the train. The current remnant is just a branding with regular rolling stock. Today there are only three blue trains are in service.

İzmir is a transportation hub for western Anatolia. İzmir has an extensive bus system, a developing metro and commuter rail system and a large urban ferry network. The city also has a highway to Çeşme and Aydın as well as a ring around the city. Mass transportation is operated by four separate public agencies all owned by the İzmir Municipality.

The Alsancak-Halkapınar Shuttle is a shuttle train operated by İZBAN to service Alsancak Terminal. As of June 10, 2012, İZBAN's mainline will temporarily bypass Alsancak, due to the construction of a new transfer station near Hilal. Until the station is complete, shuttle trains will operate every 10–12 minutes between Alsancak and Halkapınar, where passengers can transfer to other trains.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Konya Blue Train</span>

The Konya Blue Train, previously referred to as the Mevlana Express is an overnight intercity train operating between İzmir and Konya since 16 August 2012. The inaugural train will departed Alsancak Terminal in İzmir at 8:00pm (EEST) after an opening ceremony which the minister of transport, Binali Yıldırım will attend. The train follows the former Smyrna Cassaba Railway's mainline to Afyon passing through Manisa, Alaşehir, Uşak, Afyon and Konya. The Konya Blue Train is the first train service to operate east of Uşak, to Afyon, since the cancellation of the İzmir-Diyarbakır Postal Train several years ago.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Tepeköy railway station</span>

Tepeköy railway station is a railway station in Torbalı and is the southern terminus of the İZBAN Southern Line. The station was originally opened on 14 November 1861 by the Oriental Railway Company. Between 2015–16, Tepeköy was rebuilt and expanded from a one track station to three tracks to service commuter trains to and from Alsancak Terminal in Izmir.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Aegean Express</span> Passenger train operating daily between İzmir and Eskişehir

The Aegean Express, numbered as B31, is a passenger train operating daily between Basmane railway station in İzmir to Eskişehir. The train operates as a local service on the route, calling at more stations than its counterpart, the Karesi Express; which also operates between İzmir and Balıkesir.

TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş. is a government-owned railway company responsible for the operations of most passenger and freight rail in Turkey. The company was formed on 14 June 2016, splitting off from the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) to take over railway operations, while TCDD would continue to administer railway infrastructure. TCDD Taşımacılık officially began operations on 1 January 2017.

Porsuk railway station is a railway station near the village of Kargın in the Eskişehir Province. Due to its remote location, the station mainly serves as a siding to allow trains to pass one another. Porsuk station consists of two side platforms with three tracks. TCDD Taşımacılık operates two daily intercity trains to İzmir and Denizli, as well as three daily regional trains to Tavşanlı, Kütahya and Afyonkarahisar.

Turgutlu railway station is a railway station in Turgutlu, Turkey and is the only station within the city. TCDD Taşımacılık operates a daily inter-city train from İzmir to Konya and a daily regional train to İzmir to Uşak.
