The 1900–01 FA Cup was the 30th season of the world's oldest association football competition, the Football Association Challenge Cup. The cup was won by Tottenham Hotspur of the Southern League, who defeated Sheffield United 3–1 in a replay after a 2–2 draw in the first game. This was the only occasion since the formation of The Football League in 1888 that a club from outside the League won the cup.

Bertram Cooper Eardley (1879–1929) was an English footballer. He made 220 appearances and scored 40 goals for Port Vale over about ten seasons with the club. He established himself as a regular first-team player, but had spells of inconsistency which left him out of the side for large periods. Ever the loyal Valiant, it is believed he did not join another team in 1907 when the club suffered financial meltdown and liquidation, instead he re-signed in December 1908 and went straight into the first-team. He left for good in the summer of 1910.

Andrew Swann was a Scottish professional footballer who played in the Football League for Barnsley, Woolwich Arsenal and Stockport County as a centre forward. He was most notable for being the Football League Division Two top scorer for the 1900–01 season whilst playing for Barnsley. He was born in Dalbeattie in the historical county of Kirkcudbrightshire in Scotland.

The 1900–01 season was English football club West Ham United’s inaugural season. The club had been founded in 1895 under the name of Thames Ironworks, before being wound up in June 1900 and resigning from the Southern League. On 5 July, West Ham United Football Club Company Limited was registered and the club took the Southern League place vacated by Thames Ironworks. They finished the season sixth in the Southern League Division One. The club also entered the FA Cup, reaching the intermediate round.
