The 1938–39 Polska Liga Hokejowa season was the 10th season of the Polska Liga Hokejowa, the top level of ice hockey in Poland. Four teams participated in the final round, and Dab Katowice won the championship. To win promotion to the final round, Warszawianka beat Czarni Lwów, Ognisko beat ŁKS Łódź, and Polonia Warszawa beat AZS Poznań.

Czarni Lwów was one of the first Polish professional sports clubs with the well developed football section as well as hockey among the several other sports. The football club was started in the late 19th century in Lwów as a school football section Sława Lwów. In 1903 the name was changed and the club became professional.

ŁKS Łódź sports club in Poland

ŁKS Łódź is a Polish sports club that is owned by Łódź city council. They are best known for their football club, but are represented in many sports such as basketball, volleyball, tennis, athletics and in the past ice hockey. The club is based at Stadion LKS, at Al. Unii Lubelskiej 2 in the West of Łódź. The club was founded in 1908. The football section had since been sold to private investors as the city could no longer afford to support it. After years of financial hardships, the club declared bankruptcy in May 2013. and was re-founded by a partnership between fans and local investors in the fifth tier of the league pyramid.
