The 1946 Montenegrin Republic League was inaugural season of Montenegrin Republic League. First edition of competition was qualifying tournament for the first season of Yugoslav First League. Also, it was the very first official competition in Montenegro after the World War II. [1] The season began in April and ended in May 1946. [2]
During the first season, four teams played in competition. While Budućnost and Lovćen had a struggle for champions' title, Sutjeska and Arsenal had trying to avoid the last place.
Key games were matches between Budućnost and Lovćen. First match at Podgorica City Stadium won Budućnost (5-0), while second game in Cetinje was finished 2-2. [3]
Finished as a champion of Montenegrin Republic League, Budućnost gained promotion to 1946–47 Yugoslav First League, while second-placed Lovćen played in qualifiers for the First League.

Budućnost finished season without any lost game, and with only one draw, against Lovćen in Cetinje.
While Budućnost was promoted to First Yugoslav League, Lovćen as a runner-up played in qualifiers for the top-tier. Team from Cetinje won their games in the first two legs, but failed in qualifiers' finals. Below are FK Lovćen results in the qualifiers.

Fudbalski Klub Budućnost Podgorica is a Montenegrin football club from Podgorica, Montenegro. It is competing in the Montenegrin First League. Its colours are blue and white.

Fudbalski klub Lovćen is a football club based in Cetinje, Montenegro. It was founded on 20 June 1913. It was named after Mount Lovćen near Cetinje. Lovćen is the oldest football club in Montenegro and one of the oldest in Southeastern Europe. Today, Lovćen is a member of Montenegrin Third League. FK Lovćen is a part of Lovćen Cetinje sports society.
The Montenegrin Men's Handball First League is the top men's team handball league in Montenegro. It is organized by the Handball Federation of Montenegro.
The Montenegrin Cup is the national football cup played in Montenegro, established in 2006. The winner of the cup is awarded a spot in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League if they have not already gained a spot in the UEFA Champions League.
Most successful participant until now was FK Rudar with four titles, followed by FK Budućnost with three and OFK Titograd who won it twice.
During their history, RK Lovćen Cetinje played almost 25 seasons in the First Handball League of SFR Yugoslavia, FR Yugoslavia and Montenegro. Five times, club from Cetinje won the champions' title - in the seasons 1999–00, 2000–01, 2006–07, 2011–12 and 2012–13.
