World Orienteering Championships

The World Orienteering Championships is an annual orienteering event organized by the International Orienteering Federation. The first World Championships was held in Fiskars, Finland in 1966. They were held biennially up to 2003. Since 2003, competitions have been held annually. Participating nations have to be members of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF).

The World Ski Orienteering Championships (Ski-WOC) is the official event to award the titles of World Champions in ski orienteering. The World Championships is organized every odd year. The programme includes Sprint, Middle and Long Distance competitions, and a Relay for both men and women. The first Ski-WOC was held in 1975.

Swedish Orienteering Federation

The Swedish Orienteering Federation is the national orienteering association in Sweden. It is recognized as the national federation for Sweden by the International Orienteering Federation, of which it is a member.

The 35th World Orienteering Championships were held in Latvia in August 2018. The hosts were Riga, Sigulda and Turaida.

The 2010 World Orienteering Championships, the 27th World Orienteering Championships, were held in Trondheim, Norway, 8 –15 August 2010.

The 1976 World Orienteering Championships, the 6th World Orienteering Championships, were held in Aviemore, Scotland, 24–26 September 1976.

The 1991 World Orienteering Championships, the 14th World Orienteering Championships, were held in Mariánské Lázně, Czechoslovakia, 21–25 August 1991.

The 1993 World Orienteering Championships, the 15th World Orienteering Championships, were held in West Point, New York, United States, 9–14 October 1993.

The 1995 World Orienteering Championships, the 16th World Orienteering Championships, were held in Detmold, Germany, 15–20 August 1995.

The 1997 World Orienteering Championships, the 17th World Orienteering Championships, were held in Grimstad, Norway, 11–16 August 1997.

The 1999 World Orienteering Championships, the 18th World Orienteering Championships, were held in Inverness, Scotland, 1–8 August 1999.

The 2001 World Orienteering Championships, the 19th World Orienteering Championships, were held in Tampere, Finland, 26 July – 4 August 2001.

The 2003 World Orienteering Championships, the 20th World Orienteering Championships, were held in Rapperswil and Jona, Switzerland, 3 –9 August 2003.

The 2004 World Orienteering Championships, the 21st World Orienteering Championships, were held in Västerås, Sweden, 11 –19 September 2004.

The 2008 World Orienteering Championships, the 25th World Orienteering Championships, were held in Olomouc in the Czech Republic, 10 –20 July 2008.

The 2009 World Orienteering Championships, the 26th World Orienteering Championships, were held in Miskolc, Hungary, 16 –23 August 2009.

The 2011 World Orienteering Championships, the 28th World Orienteering Championships, were held in Savoie, France, 13 –20 August 2011.

The 36th World Orienteering Championships were held in Østfold, Norway in August 2019.
