Minoru Sano is a Japanese former competitive figure skater. He is the 1977 World bronze medalist and a five-time Japanese national champion (1972–76).
Lynn Nightingale, later Connor is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. She won gold medals at the Skate Canada International, Prague Skate, Richmond Trophy and Prize of Moscow News, as well as four Canadian national titles (1974–77). She finished in the top ten at the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, where she placed 9th, and at five World Championships.
Cathy Lee Irwin is a Canadian former figure skater who competed in ladies' singles. She is the 1970 Grand Prix International St. Gervais champion, the 1971 Richmond Trophy silver medalist, the 1972 Prize of Moscow News champion, and a two-time Canadian national silver medalist. She competed at the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, Japan.
Yuri Lvovich Ovchinnikov is a Russian figure skating coach and former competitor for the Soviet Union. He is the 1975 European bronze medalist, 1976 Prize of Moscow News champion, and 1975 Soviet national champion. He represented the Soviet Union at the 1972 Winter Olympics, where he placed 12th, and at the 1976 Winter Olympics, where he placed 8th.

Martina Clausner of East Germany defeated Hungary's Zsuzsa Szentmiklossy for the ladies' title. Soviet skaters swept the pairs' podium, led by Tamara Moskvina / Alexei Mishin. The ice dancing title was won by Soviets Irina Grishkova / Viktor Ryzhkin.

The ice dancing title was won by Marina Klimova / Sergei Ponomarenko, who would end their season with an Olympic silver medal.
