The 1978–79 Liga Alef season saw Hapoel Nazareth Illit (champions of the North Division) and Hapoel Beit Shemesh (champions of the South Division) win the title and promotion to Liga Artzit.

Contents

Promotion play-offs, held in neutral venue, introduced between the second placed clubs in each regional division. Hapoel Herzliya won over Maccabi Kiryat Gat, and became the third promoted club.

The 1966–68 Liga Bet season saw Hapoel Kiryat Shmona, Maccabi Herzliya, Hapoel Yehud and Hapoel Sderot win their regional divisions and promoted to Liga Alef.

The 1968–69 Liga Bet season saw Beitar Kiryat Tiv'on, Hapoel Tirat HaCarmel, Hapoel Bat Yam and Hapoel Eilat win their regional divisions and promoted to Liga Alef.

The 1969–70 Liga Bet season saw Hapoel Nahariya, Hapoel Zikhron Ya'akov, and Hapoel Yehud win their regional divisions and promoted to Liga Alef. Hapoel Beit Shemesh, which placed third in South Division B was also promoted, as the top two clubs, Hapoel Ramla and Hapoel Ashdod were involved in match-fixing scandal, and as a result, both clubs were disqualified by the IFA.

The 1970–71 Liga Bet season saw Hapoel Migdal HaEmek, Hapoel Kiryat Haim, Maccabi Bat Yam and Hapoel Ashdod win their regional divisions and promoted to Liga Alef.

The 1975–76 Liga Bet season was the last in which Liga Bet was the third tier of Israeli football, as at the end of the season, Liga Artzit came into existence, and became the new second tier, Liga Alef became the third tier, and Liga Bet became the fourth tier.

The 1977–78 Liga Alef season saw Hapoel Tiberias and Hapoel Marmorek win the title and promotion to Liga Artzit.

The 1979–80 Liga Artzit season saw Hapoel Jerusalem win the title and win promotion to Liga Leumit. Hapoel Ramat Gan and Hapoel Rishon LeZion were also promoted.

The 1979–80 Liga Alef season saw Hapoel Kiryat Shmona and Maccabi Yavne win the title and promotion to Liga Artzit.

The 1980–81 Liga Alef season saw Beitar Netanya and Maccabi Kiryat Gat win the title and promotion to Liga Artzit. Hapoel Tel Hanan also promoted after promotion play-offs.

The 1982–83 Liga Alef season saw Beitar Haifa and Hapoel Marmorek win the title and promotion to Liga Artzit. Hapoel Holon also promoted after promotion play-offs.

The 1983–84 Liga Alef season saw Hapoel Tiberias and Maccabi Sha'arayim win the title and promotion to Liga Artzit. Hapoel Ramat HaSharon also promoted after promotion play-offs.

The 1984–85 Liga Artzit season saw Bnei Yehuda win the title and promotion to Liga Leumit. Maccabi Sha'arayim and Hapoel Jerusalem were also promoted.

The 1985–86 Liga Alef season saw Hapoel Beit She'an and Hapoel Dimona win the title and promotion to Liga Artzit. Beitar Nahariya also promoted after promotion play-offs.

The 1986–87 Liga Artzit season saw Tzafririm Holon win the title and promotion to Liga Leumit.

The 1986–87 Liga Alef season saw Maccabi Hadera and Hapoel Bat Yam win their regional divisions, and qualify for promotion play-offs against the 11th and 12th placed clubs in Liga Artzit, Hapoel Marmorek and Hapoel Ramat Gan. Hapoel Bat Yam were the only promoted club from Liga Alef to Liga Artzit.

The 1979–80 Liga Bet season saw Maccabi Shefa-'Amr, Maccabi Or Akiva, Hapoel Rosh HaAyin and Maccabi Be'er Sheva win their regional divisions and promoted to Liga Alef.

Hapoel Rehovot was an Israeli football club based in Rehovot. The club spent three seasons in the top division prior to the Israeli Declaration of Independence. In 1968, the club merged with Hapoel Marmorek.
