The 1956 season was Dinamo București's eighth season in Divizia A. As Romanian champions, Dinamo plays in the European Cup, becoming the first Romanian team to participate in this competition. In Divizia A, Dinamo ends second place, four points behind the champions. Alexandru Ene is also second in the goalscorer's hierarchy, with 17 goals.
The 1964–65 season was FC Dinamo București's 16th season in Divizia A. Dinamo won for the fourth consecutive time the championship, the longest series of trophies in their history. In the European Cup, Dinamo are eliminated in the first round by the trophy holder, Inter Milan.
The 1967–68 season was FC Dinamo București's 19th season in Divizia A. Dinamo wins for the third time the Romanian Cup. In the final, Dinamo defeats Rapid București after extra-time. In the championship, Dinamo finishes third, two points behind the first two teams, Steaua and FC Argeş.
The 1968–69 season was FC Dinamo București's 20th season in Divizia A. Dinamo reaches for the second year in a row the final of Romanian Cup, but this time loses the trophy. In the championship, Dinamo finishes the season in the second place, three points behind the champions UTA. In Europe, Dinamo entered the Cup Winners's Cup and advances to the second round after the withdrawal by Vasas ETO Győr.
The 1970–71 season was FC Dinamo București's 22nd season in Divizia A. Dinamo is close to their second double in Romania, but fails to win the Romanian Cup, losing again the final against Steaua. In was the fourth final in a row played by Dinamo. After a two-year break, Dinamo is back in the European cups, playing in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup where is eliminated in the second round by Liverpool F.C..
The 1971–72 season was FC Dinamo București's 23rd season in Divizia A. Dinamo had a modest season in the championship, ending only seventh. In the European Cup, Dinamo eliminated Spartak Trnava. What followed was a double loss against Feyenoord: 0–3 and 0–2.
The 1973-74 season was FC Dinamo București's 25th season in Divizia A. The competition with Universitatea Craiova for the title repeated, but this time the Craiova side won the championship by one point. In this season, Dinamo brought Dudu Georgescu from CSM Reşiţa the player that will become the best scorer in history for Dinamo. In the European Cup, they surpass Northern Ireland's Crusaders Belfast, but fail against Atlético Madrid, the team of Capon, Irueta, Heredia and Ayala.
The 1974-75 season was FC Dinamo București's 26th season in Divizia A. Dinamo dominated the national championship, winning the first six matches and leading from start to finish. Instead, they left the Romanian Cup yet again in the last 32. In Europe, Dinamo played in the UEFA Cup and after the eliminating Boluspor, failed in the confrontation with F.C. Koln: 1-1 and 2-3!
The 1975–76 season was FC Dinamo București's 27th season in Divizia A. Dinamo kept up the pace with Steaua in the fight for championship, but in the end had to settle with the second position. The Romanian Cup remained the weak point, Dinamo being again eliminated in the first round. In the European Cup, Dinamo was unlucky, their first opponent being Real Madrid. After a loss in Spain, the win at home was not enough to move in the second round.
The 1976–77 season was FC Dinamo București's 28th season in Divizia A. Dinamo dominated the championship, leading for 27 out of the 34 rounds. Dudu Georgescu won the European Golden Boot for the second time, with a record number of goals – 47, scoring 56% of the team's goals. In the UEFA Cup, Dinamo played against another "sacred monster" – AC Milan – with Fabio Capello and Collovatti on its side: 0–0 and 1–2.
The 1977–78 season was FC Dinamo București's 29th season in Divizia A. Dinamo lost Radu Nunweiller and Mircea Lucescu who both went to Corvinul Hunedoara. Because of these losses, Dinamo could not fight for the championship, and finished only fifth. In the European Cup, Dinamo wins a thrilling game against Atlético Madrid 2–1, but loses in Madrid, 2–0.
The 1981–82 season was FC Dinamo București's 33rd season in Divizia A. Dinamo dominated both national competitions, winning the tenth championship title and the fourth Romanian Cup. The UEFA Cup season brings some great wins for Dinamo. The red-whites meet Levski Sofia, team of Sirakov and Iskrenov. In the second round, a terrifying "double": Dinamo-Internazionale. At Milan, 1-1 and back home in Bucharest, 3-2 for the "dogs", in the extra time! Dinamo is eliminated by the Swedish team IFK Göteborg, managed by Sven-Göran Eriksson, which later ends up winning the trophy.
The 1982–83 season was FC Dinamo București's 34th season in Divizia A of Romanian association football.
The 1983–84 season was FC Dinamo București's 35th season in Divizia A. In this season, Dinamo made their best ever performance at the European level, reaching the semi-finals of the European Cup.
The 1984–85 season was FC Dinamo București's 36th season in Divizia A. Dinamo starts the season with a new manager, Cornel Dinu being promoted from his assistant position. In the Romanian championship, Dinamo finishes second, after three consecutive titles, being overtaken by Steaua, the same team that beat them in the semifinals of the Romanian Cup.
The 1985–86 season was FC Dinamo București's 37th season in Divizia A. This was the season when it started the Lucescu era for Dinamo. Mircea Lucescu was brought as manager in the 14th round. He won his first trophy at the end of the season, the Romanian Cup, beating Steaua in the final, the team that just became European champions.
The 1989–90 season was FC Dinamo București's 41st season in Divizia A. In this season, Dinamo made the double, stopping Steaua's supremacy in Romania. In Europe, Dinamo reached the semifinals of the Cup Winners' Cup, where it is defeated by Anderlecht. It was a special season because of the Romanian Revolution of 1989. Dinamo dominated the first half of the season, winning the derby with Steaua, 3–0, on its ground. It was the first defeat for Steaua in the Romanian championship after 104 consecutive games. In the winter break, after the Revolution, Dinamo suffered administrative changes, for a few days having a different name – Unirea Tricolor.
The 1990–91 season was FC Dinamo București's 42nd season in Divizia A. It is the first season started after the Romanian Revolution, event that opened the borders. Because of this, Dinamo lost almost an entire team, and also his coach, Mircea Lucescu, all of them starting their careers abroad. That's why Dinamo started to build another team and ended this season without silverware. In the championship, the team finished third, seven points behind champions Universitatea Craiova. The same team from Oltenia ended the dream for Dinamo in the Romanian Cup.
The 2005-06 season was FC Dinamo București's 57th season in Liga I. The season started well, with the highlight in recent times for the club. In UEFA Cup, Dinamo thrashed Premier League team Everton 5–1. Dinamo went on to win the tie 5–2. The crisis started in the second part of the season. Manager Ioan Andone was fired by the new Executive President of the club Ioan Becali. Esteban Vigo was brought in, but because of the scandals inside the club Ioan Becali was kicked out and Vigo left the club as well. Dinamo counted on Ion Marin for the first games of the spring that started with a 3–0 loss to Oţelul Galaţi. Florin Marin came and was kept manager for the rest of the season before Mircea Rednic took the job. Dinamo finished the season with a 0–0 draw against Poli Timișoara and finished 3rd to earn a very important UEFA Cup spot at the end of a horrible season.
The 2001–02 season was FC Dinamo București's 53rd season in Divizia A. In this season, Dinamo became Romanian champions for the 16th time in history. Dinamo was eliminated quickly from the UEFA Cup, and concentrated only on the internal competition. Thus, after the first half of the season, Dinamo was leader with two points over the revelation FC Național. In March 2002, Dinamo defeated Rapid 3–2, and distanced itself to five points at the front of the standings, and Cristian Borcea, Dinamo's president, launched after the game the famous sentence: "Let us prepare for the Champions League"
