The 1979 Nations Cup, also known by its sponsored name Ambre Solaire Nations Cup, was a men's team tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the third edition of the World Team Cup and was part of the 1979 Grand Prix circuit. It took place at the Rochusclub in Düsseldorf in Germany from 7 May through 14 May 1979. Total prize money was $250,000 and in total 44,500 people attended the event. [1] [2] Spain were the defending champions but did not compete that year. Australia defeated Italy in the final, which was delayed by one day due to rain, to win the title for the first time. [3] [4]

Contents

The draw consisted of eight teams divided over two round-robin groups. The two best ranked teams from each group proceeded to the semifinals. Each match consisted of two singles and a doubles.

It was the second edition of the Nations Cup and the event was part of the 1978 Grand Prix circuit. It took place at the Rochusclub in Düsseldorf in West Germany from 8 May through 15 May 1978. Total prize money was £100,000 and in total 36,000 people attended the event. The United States were the defending champions. Spain defeated Australia in the final, watched by a crowd of nearly 7,000, to win the title for the first time and earn the $60,000 first-prize money.

The Finals, formerly known as World Group, is the highest level of Davis Cup competition in 2022. It took place from 13 to 18 September and from 22 to 27 November 2022. The ties were contested in a best-of-three rubbers format and played on one day. There were two singles followed by a doubles. The Russian Tennis Federation were the defending champions, but they were banned from competing in international events following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Canada won the title, defeating Australia in the final. It was Canada's first ever Davis Cup title. On 13 March 2022, ITF announced that Serbia, which had been awarded a wild card for the 2022 Finals, had replaced the Russian Tennis Federation as the highest-ranked losing semi-finalist in the 2021 Finals. On 17 March 2022, ITF announced that Canada will compete in the Finals as the replacement wild card.

The 2023 United Cup tennis event was won by the United States, defeating Italy in the finals, 4–0. The United States swept Poland in the semifinals while Italy lost one match in their defeat of Greece.

The 2023 Davis Cup will be the 111th edition of the Davis Cup, a tournament between national teams in men's tennis. It is sponsored by Rakuten. It will be part of the 2023 ATP Tour calendar.
