Martina Navratilova defeated Andrea Jaeger in the final, 7–6^(8–6), 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 1982 French Open. ^[1] It was her first French Open singles title and fourth major singles title overall.

Hana Mandlíková was the defending champion, but was defeated in the semifinals by Navratilova. Four-time champion Chris Evert was defeated by Jaeger in the semifinals.
