The 1986–87 Liga Artzit season saw Tzafririm Holon win the title and promotion to Liga Leumit.

As both Liga Leumit and Liga Artzit reduced to 14 clubs each, [1] the bottom four clubs, Hapoel Beit She'an, Beitar Ramla, Beitar Nahariya and Hapoel Dimona were all relegated to Liga Alef. furthermore, promotion-relegation play-offs held between the 11th and 12th placed clubs in Liga Artzit, Hapoel Marmorek and Hapoel Ramat Gan and the winners of the regional divisions of Liga Alef. the play-offs ended with Hapoel Ramat Gan remained in Liga Artzit and Hapoel Marmorek relegated to Liga Alef.

Relegation play-offs

A promotion-relegation play-off between the 11th and 12th placed clubs in Liga Alef, Hapoel Marmorek and Hapoel Ramat Gan, and the winners of the regional divisions of Liga Alef, Maccabi Hadera and Hapoel Bat Yam. Each club played the other three once.

The 2010–11 Liga Alef season saw Maccabi Umm al-Fahm and Hapoel Jerusalem win the title and promotion to Liga Leumit.

The 2009–10 Liga Alef season was the first season since the 1998–99 Liga Alef season, in which Liga Alef regained its status as the third tier of Israeli football, due to the closure of Liga Artzit.

The 1973–74 Liga Alef season saw Hapoel Acre and Maccabi Sha'arayim win their regional divisions, and qualify with the second-placed clubs, Shimshon Tel Aviv and Hapoel Marmorek for promotion play-offs against the bottom two clubs in Liga Leumit, Hakoah Ramat Gan and Maccabi Haifa. Shimshon Tel Aviv were the only promoted club from Liga Alef to Liga Leumit.

Hapoel Bat Yam were the only promoted club from Liga Alef to Liga Artzit.

The 1988–89 Liga Artzit season saw Hapoel Ramat Gan win the title and promotion to Liga Leumit. At the other end of the table, Hapoel Bat Yam and Hapoel Yehud relegated to Liga Alef. However, after the season finished Beitar Ramla was found guilty in match fixing and was relegated to Liga Alef while Hapoel Bat Yam was reprieved.

The 1990–91 Liga Artzit season saw Maccabi Petah Tikva win the title and earn promotion to Liga Leumit alongside runners-up Maccabi Yavne. At the other end of the table Maccabi Ramat Amidar and Hapoel Tirat HaCarmel were relegated to Liga Alef, whilst Hapoel Bat Yam were relegated after losing the promotion-relegation play-offs.

The 2012–13 Liga Alef season saw Hapoel Afula and Hapoel Katamon win the title and promotion to Liga Leumit. Beitar Kfar Saba won the promotion play-offs and met Beitar Tel Aviv Ramla of Liga Leumit and lost 2–4 on aggregate and thus remained in Liga Alef.

The 1968–69 Israel State Cup was the 30th season of Israel's nationwide football cup competition and the 15th after the Israeli Declaration of Independence.

The 2008–09 Liga Alef season was the last season of Liga Alef as the fourth tier of the Israeli football league system. Third tier, Liga Artzit, was scrapped, while the Premier League and Liga Leumit were expanded to 16 clubs each, making Liga Alef the third tier, as well as expanding the two regional divisions to 16 clubs.

Hapoel Bat Yam is an Israeli football club from the city of Bat Yam. The current club is a resurrection of an older Hapoel Bat Yam club, which was folded in 2004.

The 2014–15 Liga Alef season saw Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem and Hapoel Ashkelon win the title and promotion to Liga Leumit.
