Contents

A season after finishing as runners-up, Villa dropped to 17th in the table following the departure of manager Graham Taylor, who took charge of the England national football team in July 1990. His replacement, Jozef Vengloš, left after just a season in charge as manager and was in turn replaced by Sheffield Wednesday's Ron Atkinson. [1]

There were debuts for Gary Penrice (20) and Ivo Staš. [2]
