The 1993 Arab Cup Winners' Cup was the fourth edition of the Arab Cup Winners' Cup held in Doha, Qatar between 20 Jan – 2 Feb 1994, one year after. The teams represented Arab nations from Africa and Asia. CO Casablanca of Morocco won the final consecutively for the third time, against Al-Qadisiyah of Saudi Arabia.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Hamad bin Abdullah bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani is a member of the ruling Al Thani Qatari royal family. The 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup was the fifteenth tournament of the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The tournament was held in the United Arab Emirates between 17 October and 8 November. Nigeria won the tournament after defeating Mexico 3–0 in the final, claiming the country's fourth title. Sweden won the bronze with a 4–1 victory over Argentina in the third-place play-off match.

The 2016 AFC U-23 Championship was the second edition of the AFC U-23 Championship, the biennial international age-restricted football championship organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for the men's under-23 national teams of Asia. The tournament was held in Qatar between 12–30 January 2016. A total of 16 teams compete in the tournament. The tournament was also renamed from the "AFC U-22 Championship" to the "AFC U-23 Championship".
