Manila, officially the City of Manila, is the capital of the Philippines. It is the most densely populated city proper in the world. Japan men's national softball team is the national team for Japan. The 1988 World Championships were held in Saskatoon, Canada. The team played 13 games in the round robin round. Japan beat Australia 4-1 in one game in this round. The team competed at the 1992 ISF Men's World Championship in Manila, Philippines where they finished with 7 wins and 2 losses. The team competed at the 1996 ISF Men's World Championship in Midland, Michigan where they finished with 10 wins and 5 losses. The 1992 ISF Men's World Championship was an international softball tournament. The tournament was held in Manila and Pasig, Philippines from 20–28 March 1992. It was the 8th time the World Championship took place. Eighteen nations competed, including defending champions United States.

The 1972 ISF Men's World Championship was an international softball tournament. The tournament was held at the Rodriguez Sports Center in Marikina, Rizal, Philippines. It was the 3rd time the World Championship took place and the first time the Philippines to host the tournament. Ten nations competed, including defending champions United States.

The 2017 Asian Women’s Softball Championship will be an international softball tournament which will feature twelve nations which will be held from 29 November–4 December 2017 in Taichung, Taiwan.

The 2004 Asian Women’s Softball Championship was an international softball tournament which featured twelve nations which was held from 12–18 December 2004 at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium in Manila, Philippines. The top three finishing teams qualified for the 2006 Women's Softball World Championship which was held in Beijing, China.

The 2007 Asian Women’s Softball Championship was an international softball tournament which featured eleven nations which was held from 19–23 August 2007 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The 2011 Asian Women’s Softball Championship was an international softball tournament which featured thirteen nations which was held from 20–28 September 2011 in Nantou County, Taiwan. Matches were held at the De-Hsin Baseball Stadium and Chao-Kuan Baseball Stadium. The top three teams qualified for the 2012 Women's Softball World Championship.

Philippines at the 2018 Asian Games

The Philippines participated at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia from 18 August to 2 September 2018. The country won 21 medals to finish 19th overall in the medal tally of the games; an improvement from 22nd place placement of the country in the previous 2014 edition. However this came short of the 15th place target set by officials who deemed the actual placement as acceptable. Two of the Philippines' gold medal came from golf, while the other two came from weightlifting and skateboarding.

The 2018 Asian Men’s Softball Championship was an international softball tournament which featured nine nations which was held in April 2018. The games were held at the Gelora Bung Karno Softball Stadium. The top three teams qualified for the 2019 ISF Men's World Championship to be held in Prague, Czech Republic. The competition also served as a test-event for the 2018 Asian Games
