The 2004–05 British National League season was the ninth and final season of the British National League, the second level of ice hockey in Great Britain. Seven teams participated in the league, and the Dundee Stars won the championship.
The British National League (BNL) was the second tier of the professional ice hockey league in the United Kingdom between 1996 and 2005. Although no formal promotion and relegation existed during its period of existence, it was considered to have been a standard below that of the Ice Hockey Superleague and above that of the English National Ice Hockey League and the Scottish National League. Fife Flyers and Guildford Flames were the only two teams to consistently feature in the BNL during every season of the league's history.

The Bracknell Bees are an ice hockey team from Bracknell, Berkshire, UK. They compete in the National Ice Hockey League.
The Guildford Flames are an ice hockey team based in Guildford, Surrey and they play their home games in the Guildford Spectrum. They compete in the top-tier of hockey in the United Kingdom, the Elite Ice Hockey League.
Fife Flyers Ice Hockey Club is the oldest professional ice hockey club in the UK, established in 1938. The Flyers play their home games at Fife Ice Arena in Kirkcaldy which has a capacity of just Over 3000. The arena is home to not only Fife Flyers, who play in the Elite Ice Hockey League but also to Kirkcaldy Junior Ice Hockey Club which are also more exciting to watch and they give 100% throughout the game, unlike the Fife Flyers who give up after 10 minutes. Traditionally many of the Flyers' players have come up through the junior ranks to play at a "professional" level.
The Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) is an ice hockey league in the United Kingdom. Formed in 2003 following the demise of the Ice Hockey Superleague, it is the highest level of ice hockey competition in the United Kingdom.
During the 2007–08 season, the Guildford Flames participated in the semi-professional English Premier Ice Hockey League. It was the 16th year of ice hockey played by the Guildford Flames and the first season Paul Dixon was head coach. They were crowned EPL League Champions on 9 March 2008 following a 6–1 road victory over the Telford Tigers.

It was an amazing season for the Guildford Flames that saw them win the British National League, Findus playoffs and ntl Christmas Cup. They also reached the Final of the Benson & Hedges plate, but lost 3–2 to the Basingstoke Bison at the Sheffield Arena in front of an estimated 6,000 spectators.

The 1996–97 season, was the Guildford Flames' fifth year of ice hockey. Despite the fact the Guildford Flames advised with the setting up of the new top league in British Ice Hockey - the Ice Hockey Superleague, they opted to become members of the lower British National League. The unsettled Flames suffered from the loss of both their general manager and managing director and the five-year-old club, under coach Wayne Crawford, struggled through the campaign with a turnover of 41 players.

The 2017–18 EIHL season was the 15th season of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The regular season commenced on 9 September 2017 and ended on 25 March 2018. The reigning league champions were the Cardiff Devils, who won the championship for the first time in 2016–17. The Devils retained their regular season title, with a 3–2 victory away at the Belfast Giants on 16 March 2018. The Devils also won the playoff title, beating the Sheffield Steelers – who had defeated the Devils 12 months prior in a 6–5 double overtime game – 3–1 in the final, winning a first playoff title since 1998–99.
The 2018–19 EIHL season is the 16th season of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The regular season commenced on 8 September 2018 and is due to end on 31 March 2019, with the playoffs following in April 2019. The two-time reigning league champions are the Cardiff Devils, who won both the regular season and playoff titles in 2017–18.
