The Detroit Mercy Titans are the athletic teams of the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM). The university is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I. The school primarily competes in the Horizon League, but competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for men's lacrosse and the Southern Conference for women's lacrosse.

First round WBI games will begin Wednesday and Thursday, March 16 and 17 while second-round games will be played Saturday, March 19 and Sunday, March 20. The tournament semifinals will be held either Wednesday or Thursday March 23 or 24 with the 2016 WBI Championship game played the final weekend of March. The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns defeated the Weber State Wildcats in double-overtime, winning the WBI for the second consecutive season.

The tournament semifinals were held March 23 with the 2017 WBI Championship game played the final weekend of March. Rice won the WBI for the first time ever, beating UNC Greensboro 74-62.

The tournament semifinals were held March 23 and 24, and the 2018 WBI Championship game was held on March 29. Yale defeated Central Arkansas, 54-50, to become WBI champions.
