2011 Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone

There are four groups in the Asia/Oceania Zone of the Davis Cup. The two winners of Group I advances to the World Group play-offs while the last placed team will be relegated to Group II the following year. The winner of Group II gets promoted to Group I next year, the two last placed teams get relegated to Group III. The top two teams of Group III gets promoted to Group II while the two weakest teams gets relegated to Group IV. In Group IV no team can get relegated, the best two will get promoted to Group III.

Serie D is the top level of the Italian non-professional football association called Lega Nazionale Dilettanti. The 2011 IIHF World Women's Championships was held in April 2011 in Zürich and Winterthur, Switzerland. This was the 13th women's championship run by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The United States were the defending champions and defended their title, capturing their third straight gold medal by defeating Canada 3–2 in overtime on a goal by Hilary Knight. IIHF council member Monique Scheier-Schneider presided over the events.

The two winners of Group I advances to the World Group play-offs while the last placed team will be relegated to Group II the following year. The winner of Group II gets promoted to Group I next year, the two last placed teams get relegated to Group III. The top two teams of Group III gets promoted to Group II while the two weakest teams gets relegated to Group IV. In Group IV no team can get relegated, the best two will get promoted to Group III.

2012 IIHF Womens World Championship Division II

The Division II tournament was held in Maribor, Slovenia, from March 25 to 31 for Group A. Group B was contested from March 10 to 16 in Seoul, South Korea. In both tournaments the first placed team was promoted and the last placed team relegated, so, the Group B winner moved up to Group A, and the Group A winner moved up to Division I Group B. The last placed in Group A was relegated to Group B. While the rules stated that the 5th and 6th placed teams in Group B must enter a qualification tournament for next year if more member nations apply to compete, this did not happen. Previously these tournaments were known as Division III and Division IV.

2012 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships – Division II

The 2012 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship Division II was played in two groups of six teams each. In each group the first-placed team is promoted to a higher level, while the last-placed team is relegated to a lower level. This year, for the first time, the winner of Group B is promoted to Group A and the winner of Group A is promoted to the next year's Division I. Previously the winners of both groups were promoted to the Division I.
