The 2011–12 North of Scotland Cup began on 23 July 2011 and ended on 11 September 2011.

The North of Scotland Cup is a knock-out tournament for football teams in membership of the North of Scotland Football Association. The teams involved are predominantly based in the Highlands and Islands and Morayshire, and membership is made of senior sides from the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL), Highland Football League and North Caledonian League.

This season saw Nutel Communications as the sponsors for the second year with draw taking place at their headquarters in Inverness. The draw, like previous years, was split into north and south sections but without Ross County and Elgin City who withdrew from the competition.

Inverness is a city in the Scottish Highlands. It is the administrative centre for The Highland Council and is regarded as the capital of the Highlands. Inverness lies near two important battle sites: the 11th-century battle of Blàr nam Fèinne against Norway which took place on the Aird and the 18th century Battle of Culloden which took place on Culloden Moor. It is the northernmost city in the United Kingdom and lies within the Great Glen at its north-eastern extremity where the River Ness enters the Moray Firth. At the latest, a settlement was established by the 6th century with the first royal charter being granted by Dabíd mac Maíl Choluim in the 12th century. The Gaelic king Mac Bethad Mac Findláich (MacBeth) whose 11th-century killing of King Duncan was immortalised in Shakespeare's largely fictionalized play Macbeth, held a castle within the city where he ruled as Mormaer of Moray and Ross.

Ross County Football Club is a Scottish professional football club based in Dingwall, Highland. They play all of their home matches at Victoria Park in Dingwall. The club currently play in the Scottish Championship, after being relegated from the Scottish Premiership in the 2017–18 season. Prior to the 1994–95 season they played in the Highland Football League, a competition they won three times. They have also won the Scottish First Division, Second Division, Third Division and Challenge Cup twice. In 2010, they reached the Scottish Cup Final and in 2016, they won the Scottish League Cup. Nicknamed The Staggies, County's colours are dark blue, red and white.

Brora Rangers Football Club are a senior part-time professional football club from the village of Brora, Sutherland, in the Highland council area of Scotland. They play in the Highland Football League, of which they have twice been champions, having won their first title in 2013–14 and successfully defended it in the 2014–15 season.

Clachnacuddin Football Club is a part-time senior professional football club from the city of Inverness who currently play in the Scottish Highland Football League.

Forres Mechanics F.C.

Forres Mechanics Football Club are a senior Scottish association football club from the town of Forres, Moray, currently playing in the Highland Football League. They play at the town's Mosset Park. Forres Mechanics are the oldest association football club in the North of Scotland and are one of only two original teams to play in the Highland League since its first season in 1893, the other being Clachnacuddin.

Rothes Football Club is a senior football club who play in the Highland Football League. They were founded in 1938 and play at Mackessack Park in Rothes, a small town near Elgin in Moray. They play in tangerine shirts, colours they inherited from Dundee United after purchasing the floodlights from Tannadice Park. Rothes have won the Highland League once, in the 1958–59 season. Mackessack Park is named after one Douglas Mackessack, a local laird and whisky magnate and an early benefactor of the club.

Fort William Football Club is a senior football team from Fort William, Lochaber, Scotland. They play in the Highland Football League and have been playing at that level since joining the league in 1985.

Nairn County F.C.

Nairn County Football Club is a Scottish senior football club based in the town of Nairn, Highland. Nicknamed the Wee County, they were founded in 1914 and play at Station Park. They have played in the Highland Football League since 1919, winning their only league title in the 1975–76 season. As a full member of the Scottish Football Association, they qualify automatically to play in the Scottish Cup.

2011–12 Scottish Cup

The 2011–12 Scottish Cup was the 127th season of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. The tournament began on 24 September 2011 and ended on 19 May 2012. It was sponsored by William Hill in the first season of a three-year partnership, known as the William Hill Scottish Cup. The winner of the competition qualified for the play-off round of the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League. Heart of Midlothian won 5-1 against city rivals Hibernian at Hampden Park.

The 2012–13 Highland Football League began on 4 August 2012 and is scheduled to finish in May 2013. Forres Mechanics were the defending champions.
The league was won by Cove Rangers, their fourth Highland League title. Fort William finished bottom.

2013–14 North of Scotland Cup

The 2013–14 North of Scotland Cup began on 27 July 2013 and ended on 19 October 2013, when eventual winners, Brora Rangers, defeated defending champions Nairn County 3–0 at Clachnacuddin's Grant Street Park in Inverness. It was sponsored by AJG Parcels for the second year.

The North of Scotland Football Association is a local football association affiliated to the Scottish Football Association. Member clubs are drawn from across the Highlands and Moray and includes teams playing in the Scottish Professional Football League, the Highland League and the North Caledonian League.

The 2015–16 Scottish Cup was the 131st season of Scotland's most prestigious football knockout competition. The tournament was sponsored by bookmaker William Hill in what was the fifth season of a five-year partnership. The final was contested between second-tier clubs for the first time ever with no Premiership clubs reaching the final.
