The 2012 Filoil Flying V Preseason Hanes Cup is the seventh preseason high school and collegiate basketball tournament organized by Filoil Flying V Sports. The opening ceremonies was held on April 14, 2012 with the first tripleheader of basketball games at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan. [1] All eight teams from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and ten from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) (NCAA) participate in the tournament. Their junior counterparts also join the tournament, except for UE Junior Warriors. [2]
The tournament is composed of 18 teams, eight are from the UAAP and the remaining ten are from the NCAA. [2] These squads are grouped into two, each consisting of nine teams. [3] Meanwhile, their junior counterparts will also join the tournament, except for UE Junior Warriors, with Xavier School as the lone guest team for this division. The juniors' teams are grouped into three, each consisting of six teams. [2]

The tournament started on October 2, 2011 with Rain or Shine Elasto Painters against Barangay Ginebra Kings as the opening game. The 2020 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup was the ninth Aspirants' Cup season of the PBA D–League, the official minor league basketball organization owned by the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The conference commenced on February 13. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has been a concern for the league organizers, halting the season opening as a preventive measure against the outbreak. The conference started on March 2 but the league forced indefinite suspension of games nine days later.
