The 2013–14 Southern Jaguars basketball team represented Southern University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Jaguars, led by third year head coach Roman Banks, played their home games at the F. G. Clark Center and were members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 19–13, 15–3 in SWAC play to win the regular season conference championship. They were ineligible for postseason play due to APR penalties. However, the SWAC received a waiver to allow its teams under APR penalties to still participate in the SWAC Tournament where the Jaguars lost in the quarterfinals to Prairie View A&M.

Southwestern Athletic Conference Collegiate athletic conference made up of historically black colleges and universities

The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) is a collegiate athletic conference headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, which is made up of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the Southern United States. It participates in the NCAA's Division I for all sports; in football, it participates in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), formerly referred to as Division I-AA.

The Southern Jaguars and Lady Jaguars represent Southern University in NCAA intercollegiate athletics. Southern University's 13 athletic teams participate in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) which is a part of the NCAA Division I. Football participates in the Football Championship Subdivision.

The 2012–13 Arkansas–Pine Bluff Golden Lions men's basketball team represented the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Golden Lions, led by fifth year head coach George Ivory, played their home games at the K. L. Johnson Complex and were members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Due to low APR scores, the Golden Lions were ineligible for post season play, including the SWAC Tournament. They finished the season 16–14, 15–3 in SWAC play to finish in a tie for second place with Southern.

The 2012–13 Southern Jaguars basketball team represented Southern University during the 2012–13 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Jaguars, led by second year head coach Roman Banks, played their home games at the F. G. Clark Center and were members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 23–10, 15–3 in SWAC play to finish in a tie for second place. They were champions of the SWAC Tournament to earn an automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Tournament where they lost in the second round to Gonzaga.

The 2013–14 Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils basketball team represented Mississippi Valley State University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Delta Devils, led by second year head coach Chico Potts, were members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Other than one exhibition game, due to renovations at their normal home arena, the Harrison HPER Complex, they played their home games at the Leflore County Civic Center in Greenwood, Mississippi and one home game at The Pinnacle on the campus of Coahoma Community College. They finished the season 9–23, 5–13 in SWAC play to finish in ninth place. They were ineligible for postseason play due to APR penalties. However, the SWAC received a waiver to allow its teams under APR penalties to still participate in the SWAC Tournament where the Delta Devils lost in the first round to Prairie View A&M.

The 2013–14 Grambling State Tigers men's basketball team represented Grambling State University during the 2013–14 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Tigers, led by second year head coach Joseph Price, played their home games at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center and were members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 5–24, 3–15 in SWAC play to finish in last place. They were ineligible for postseason play due to APR penalties. However, the SWAC received a waiver to allow its teams under APR penalties to still participate in the SWAC Tournament where Grambling State advanced to the quarterfinals where they lost to Texas Southern.

The 2014 SWAC Men's Basketball Tournament took place March 11–15 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

They finished the season 18–17, 13–5 in SWAC play to finish in third place. They advanced to the championship game of the SWAC Tournament where they lost to Texas Southern. Had they won the SWAC Tournament, they would not have qualified for the NCAA Tournament due to a postseason ban due to failing to supply usable academic data to the NCAA.

They earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament where they lost in the First Four to Holy Cross.

The Braves, led by first year head coach Montez Robinson, played their home games at the Davey Whitney Complex in Lorman, Mississippi and were members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The 2017–18 Alcorn State Braves basketball team represented Alcorn State University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Braves, led by third-year head coach Montez Robinson, played their home games at the Davey Whitney Complex in Lorman, Mississippi as members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. They finished the season 11–21, 7–11 in SWAC play to finish in eighth place. Due to Grambling State's ineligibility, they received the No. 7 seed in the SWAC Tournament where they lost in the quarterfinals to Prairie View A&M.

Due to Grambling State's Academic Progress Rate violations and subsequent postseason ineligibility, the Jaguars received the No. 4 seed in the SWAC Tournament. They defeated Jackson State in the quarterfinals before losing to Arkansas–Pine Bluff in the semifinals.
