Vassilis Spanoulis is a Greek former professional basketball player and current professional basketball coach for Peristeri Athens of the Greek Basket League and the FIBA Champions League. Spanoulis spent the majority of his playing career in the Greek Basket League, winning four Greek League titles as a member of Panathinaikos Athens, and three Greek titles as a member of Olympiacos Piraeus. He also won three EuroLeague titles, one with the former club (2009), and two consecutive with the latter. HoopsHype named Spanoulis one of the 75 Greatest International Players Ever in 2021. In 2022, he was named a EuroLeague Legend. He was also inducted into the Greek Basket League Hall of Fame in 2022.

The 2014 FIBA Intercontinental Cup was the 24th edition of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup for men's professional basketball clubs and the 23rd edition of the tournament being in the form of a true intercontinental tournament for clubs. The 2 game aggregate score tournament took place at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on September 26 and September 28, 2014, in order to determine the world club champion. The tournament was contested between the 2013–14 season EuroLeague champions, Maccabi Electra, and the 2014 FIBA Americas League champions, Flamengo.
The FIBA Intercontinental Cup Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award is the award bestowed to the player that is deemed to be the most valuable player" of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup official world basketball club championship. The winner of the award is decided by FIBA and is given after the final of the competition, usually to a player on the winning team.
