The Women's under-23 road race at the 2014 European Road Championships took place in Nyon, Switzerland on 12 July over a course of 129.6 km.

2014 European Road Championships

The 2014 European Road Championships were held in Nyon, Switzerland, between 10 and 13 July 2014. The event consisted of a road race and a time trial for men and women under 23 and juniors. The championships were regulated by the European Cycling Union.

Nyon Place in Vaud, Switzerland

Nyon[njɔ̃] is a municipality in the district of Nyon in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. It is located some 25 kilometers north east of Geneva's city centre, and since the 1970s it has become part of the Geneva metropolitan area. It lies on the shores of Lake Geneva and is the seat of the district of Nyon. The town has a population of 20,533 and is famous in the sporting world for being the headquarters of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the European Club Association (ECA). It is connected to the rest of Switzerland by way of the Route Suisse, the A1 Motorway and the railways of the Arc Lémanique.

Race

The breakaway of three riders, with Sabrina Stultiens, Elena Cecchini and Annabelle Dreville, were not caught by the bunch and sprinted for the European title. Dutchwomen Stultiens was the fastest of the three and won the second gold medal for the Netherlands at the 2014 European Road Championships ahead of Checchini and Dreville. Thalita de Jong from the Netherlands won the sprint of the peloton behind them.

Sabrina Stultiens is a Dutch road and cyclo-cross racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's Team CCC Liv.

Elena Cecchini cyclist

Elena Cecchini is an Italian racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's Team Canyon–SRAM. She competed in the 2013 UCI women's team time trial in Florence. In 2013 and 2014, she rode for the Estado de México–Faren Kuota team. In November 2015 she was announced as part of the Canyon–SRAM team's inaugural squad for the 2016 season.

Annabelle Dreville French bicycle racer

Annabelle Dreville is a French professional road racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI Women's Team Lotto–Soudal Ladies. She won a bronze medal in the under-23 road race at the 2014 European Road Championships. Dreville represented her country in the time trial and road race at the 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Eleonora Maria "Ellen" van Dijk is a Dutch professional road racing cyclist riding for Team Sunweb. Besides road cycling she was also a track cyclist until 2012. 2014 UCI Road World Championships – Womens road race

The Women's road race of the 2014 UCI Road World Championships took place in and around Ponferrada, Spain on 27 September 2014. The course of the race was 127.40 km (79.16 mi) with the start and finish in Ponferrada. Marianne Vos was the defending champion, having won the world title in 2012 and 2013.

2014 UEC European Track Championships

The 2014 UEC European Track Championships was the fifth edition of the elite UEC European Track Championships in track cycling and took place at the Vélodrome Amédée Détraux in Baie-Mahault, Guadeloupe, France, between 16 and 19 October. The Event was organised by the European Cycling Union. All European champions are awarded the UEC European Champion jersey which may be worn by the champion throughout the year when competing in the same event at other competitions.

The 2008 women's road cycling season was the ninth and last season for the Vrienden van het Platteland cycling team, which began as Ondernemers van Nature in 2000.
