The University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 74 basketball tournaments are the basketball events of UAAP's 2011-12 season. Ateneo de Manila University was the season host. The season started with an Olympic-style opening ceremony on July 9, 2011 and followed by a doubleheader basketball games on July 10 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Glenn Capacio is a Filipino retired professional basketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and the former head coach of PBA team GlobalPort Batang Pier and was also the former head coach of the FEU Tamaraws from 2007 to 2010.

The FEU Tamaraws men's basketball is a collegiate basketball varsity team of the Far Eastern University. FEU currently holds the record of winning the most number of championships in the men's basketball division of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. FEU also appeared in the Philippine Collegiate Championship finals four times, and was able to win back to back championships in 2004 and 2005. The team originally played in the NCAA from 1929 to 1936 and was one of its founding members. This will be Nash Racela's final season as the coach of the Tamaraws as he will be handling PBA team TNT KaTropa. Nash's brother Olsen Racela will be the new head coach of the team for season 80.

Jeron Alvin Uy Teng is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Converge FiberXers of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). As a PBA player, he usually starts at the swingman position but occasionally plays as a power forward during the Philippine Cup. A renowned prodigy, he holds multiple high school records for the Xavier Golden Stallions. After his famous high school career, he played for the De La Salle Green Archers in the UAAP with equally great success. He won a couple UAAP championships as the team captain and has the rare distinction of simultaneously winning two UAAP finals MVP awards.

Terrence Bill Vitanzos Romeo is a Filipino professional basketball player for the San Miguel Beermen of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He plays both the point guard and shooting guard positions.

UAAP Season 78 was the 2015–2016 athletic year of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). It opened on September 5, 2015, almost two months after the usual July opening of the league during previous seasons, due to the shift in the academic calendars of four member universities, i.e. Ateneo, La Salle, UP and UST. It was hosted by the University of the Philippines.

The UAAP Season 78 basketball tournaments are held in school year 2015-16. University of the Philippines Diliman is the season host. The basketball tournaments started with a doubleheader basketball games after the opening ceremonies on September 5, 2015, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and ended on December 2, 2015, at the Mall of Asia Arena, while the junior's basketball has currently been held since November. ABS-CBN's UHF channel ABS-CBN Sports and Action broadcast the men's tournament for the sixteenth consecutive year.

The 2016 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup was the first conference of the 2015-16 PBA Developmental League season. It was opened on January 21, 2016 at the Filoil Flying V Center and competed by 9 teams and it was finished on April 14, 2016 where the Phoenix-FEU Accelerators defeated the Cafefrance Bakers-CEU in the best-of-5 finals showdown, 3 games to 2 and clinching their first ever title in their franchise.

Rey Mark G. "Mac" Belo is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Meralco Bolts of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

Roger Ray Bacusma Pogoy is a Filipino professional basketball player for the TNT Tropang Giga of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He has also represented the Philippines national team in international competitions.

Bernadeth Pons is a Filipino indoor and beach volleyball athlete. She played for Petron Tri-Activ Spikers as an outside hitter.

The 2016 FEU Tamaraws Men's Basketball Team represents Far Eastern University during the University Athletic Association of the Philippines' 79th season in men's basketball division. The Tamaraws are led by their fourth year coach Nash Racela.

The 2017 FEU Tamaraws Men's Basketball Team represents Far Eastern University during the University Athletic Association of the Philippines' 80th season in men's basketball division. The Tamaraws are led by their rookie head coach Olsen Racela who replaced his brother Nash, who took over professional team TNT KaTropa in the Philippine Basketball Association.

Norman Aaron Black is a Filipino-American professional basketball player for the Meralco Bolts of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He won the PBA Outstanding Rookie award in 2021. He is the son of former PBA Best Import Norman Black, who is also the head coach of Meralco.

John Adrian Abando Wong is a Filipino-American professional basketball player for the Magnolia Hotshots of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). After growing up in Dallas, Texas, he moved to the Philippines to pursue his college and professional basketball career.
