Cross-country skiing is a form of skiing where skiers rely on their own locomotion to move across snow-covered terrain, rather than using ski lifts or other forms of assistance. Cross-country skiing is widely practiced as a sport and recreational activity; however, some still use it as a means of transportation. Sonja Henie Norwegian figure skater

Sonja Henie was a Norwegian figure skater and film star. She was a three-time Olympic Champion in women's Singles, a ten-time World Champion (1927–1936) and a six-time European Champion (1931–1936). Henie won more Olympic and World titles than any other ladies' figure skater. At the height of her acting career, she was one of the highest-paid stars in Hollywood and starred in a series of box-office hits, including Thin Ice (1937), Happy Landing, My Lucky Star (1938), Second Fiddle (1939) and Sun Valley Serenade (1941).

Johann Olav Koss, is a former speed skater from Norway. He won four Olympic gold medals, including three at the 1994 Winter Olympics in his home country. He resides in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The World Figure Skating Championships ("Worlds") is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union. Fred Anton Maier Norwegian speed skater and cyclist

Fred Anton Maier was a speed skater from Norway. He was among the dominating skaters throughout the 1960s, specialising in the longer distances. Maier won four Olympic medals: silver on the 10,000 m and bronze on the 5,000 m at the 1964 Olympics, and gold on the 5,000 m and silver on the 10,000 m at the 1968 Olympics. In 1968, he also became European and World Allround Champion. In total, Maier set eleven world records. For a brief week in 1968 he held four world records simultaneously, the 3,000 m, 5,000 m, 10,000 m, and the allround samalogue record.

Sverre Lunde Pedersen is a Norwegian speed skater. He is the son of former speed-skater Jarle Pedersen.

The Norwegian Figure Skating Championships are the figure skating national championships held annually to crown the national champions of Norway. Skaters compete in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing, across different levels. Not every event has been held in every year due to a lack of entries. The competition is organized by the Norwegian Skating Association, which became a member of the International Skating Union in 1894. In the period 1894-1970 this championship were competed at the same place and time as Norwegian Allround Championships for men in speedskating.

The sport of cross-country skiing encompasses a variety of formats for cross-country skiing races over courses of varying lengths according to rules sanctioned by the International Ski Federation and by various national organizations, such as the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) and Cross Country Ski Canada. International competitions include the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, and at the Winter Olympic Games. Such races occur over homologated, groomed courses designed to support classic (in-track) and freestyle events, where the skiers may employ skate skiing. It also encompasses cross-country ski marathon events, sanctioned by the Worldloppet Ski Federation, and cross-country ski orienteering events, sanctioned by the International Orienteering Federation. Related forms of competition are biathlon, where competitors race on cross-country skis and stop to shoot at targets with rifles, and paralympic cross-country skiing that allows athletes with disabilities to compete at cross-country skiing with adaptive equipment.

Camilla Marie Gjersem is a Norwegian figure skater. She is a two-time Skate Copenhagen champion, the 2016 Reykjavik International champion, the 2014 Warsaw Cup silver medalist, the 2018 Ice Star bronze medalist, and a five-time Norwegian national champion. She competed in the final segment at the 2015 European Championships.

The skaters participating must have reached a minimum technical element score (TES) set by the Norwegian Skating Association at one of the national qualification events during the 2015–16 season.
