Estádio Nacional 12 de Julho is a multi-use stadium in the neighbourhood of Ponta da Mina southeast of the centre of São Tomé, São Tomé and Príncipe and is located on Avenida das Nações Unidas. The building is classified as a Heritage of Portuguese Influence and Origin (SIPA). It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium can hold 6,500 people and the field size is 105 × 68 m. The surface is Artificial turf.

Geographically all clubs that took part in the Premier Division were in the east and those in the west were relegated last season. In the first week, Sporting Praia Cruz won the first two matches, two match draws were made in around week 15. Sporting Praia Cruz won the title and went on to participate in the national championship match for the sixth time in November. A total of 90 matches were played, and 263 goals were scored. Sporting Praia Cruz won the season's title after finishing with 48 points and participated in the 2012 National Championship later in the year.

Geographically almost all clubs but Neves that took part in the Premier Division were in the east. Sporting Praia Cruz won the title and went on to participate in the national championships for the seventh time in November. Sporting Praia Cruz were first crowned as champions on October 26, a round before the season ended. A total of 90 matches were played and 231 goals were scored.
The 2017 São Tomé First Division was the competition of the Santomean Football Federation's São Tome section that took place that season. The club had 12 clubs. the competition began in 22 April and finished on 29 October. Geographically all clubs that took part in the Premier Division were in the east and almost all but UDRA were in the northeast where the regional and national capital is located. UDRA won their second and recent title and almost a month later headed to the national champions to win their national title.
The 2017 São Tomé Second Division was a third their competition that took place that season. The club had 10 clubs, the competition began on 21 May and finished on 13 November. Geographically almost all clubs but Ribeira Peixe and Guadalupe were from the Northeast. Sporting São Tomé won the title and will participate into the Premier Division in the following season, alongside second placed 6 de Setembro. A total of 90 matches were played and 338 goals were scored, higher than the previous two seasons season.w
