The 2021 European Short Track Speed Skating Championships were held from 22 to 24 January 2021 in Gdańsk, Poland. [1]
Due to fears around the COVID-19 pandemic seven time European champion Arianna Fontana will not take part. [2] Neither will two time European champion Elise Christie and the rest of the British team. [3] [4]

Short-track speed skating is a form of competitive ice speed skating. In competitions, multiple skaters skate on an oval ice track with a length of 111.111 metres (364.54 ft). The rink itself is 60 metres (196.85 ft) long by 30 metres (98.43 ft) wide, which is the same size as an Olympic-sized figure skating rink and an international-sized ice hockey rink. Related sports include long-track speed skating and inline speed skating.
Sven Kramer is a retired Dutch long track speed skater who has won an all-time record nine World Allround Championships as well as a record ten European Allround Championships. He is the Olympic champion of the 5000 meters at the Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics, and won a record 21 gold medals at the World Single Distance Championships; eight in the 5000 meters, five in the 10,000 meters, and eight in the team pursuit. Kramer used to be the world record holder in the team pursuit and broke the world records in the 5000 meter and 10,000 meter events three times. By winning the 2010 World Allround Championship, Kramer became the first speed skater in history to win four consecutive world allround championships and eight consecutive international all round championships. He was undefeated in the 18 international allround championships he participated in from the 2006/2007 season until the 2016/2017 season. From November 2007 to March 2009, he was ranked first in the Adelskalender, but despite his dominance as an all-round skater he has since been overtaken on that list by Shani Davis and, more recently, by his teammate Patrick Roest and Jordan Stolz.

Daniëlle Bekkering is a Dutch marathon speed skater, short track speed skater, and cyclist who currently lives in Den Ham (Groningen). Bekkering has several nicknames like Beeks, Daantje and Dikkie Dik. Her sister Eyelien is also a cyclist.

The Dutch Figure Skating Championships are held annually to crown the national champions of the Netherlands. Marion Krijgsman is a Dutch former competitive figure skater. She is the 1999 Crystal Skate of Romania bronze medalist and a four-time Dutch national champion. She competed at ten ISU Championships, achieving her best result, 17th, at the 1991 and 1999 Europeans.

Philip Brojaka is a British former short track and long track speed skater, who was active between 2006 and 2018. As of 2020 he is assistant coach for the Dutch professional long track team Team Reggeborgh.
Marijke Groenewoud is a Dutch long-distance long-track speed skater and inline speed skater. She was part of Team FrySk and of marathon team Royal A-ware. As of 2020 she is part of Team Zaanlander, trained by Jillert Anema.
Lindsay van Zundert is a retired Dutch figure skater. She is the 2021 Celje Open champion, the 2020 NRW Trophy champion, and a three-time Dutch national champion.
Michel Tsiba is a Dutch pair skater. With his skating partner, Daria Danilova, he is the 2020 Dutch national champion and the 2020 NRW Trophy bronze medalist. They competed in the final segment at the 2020 European Championships and are the first Dutch pair to qualify for the World Championships.
Angel Mila Diana Daleman is a Dutch speed skater who competes in both short track speed skating and long track speed skating.
Diede van Oorschot is a Dutch short track speed skater. She was part of the Dutch relay team at the 2024 European Championships that obtained a gold medal.
Michelle Velzeboer is a short track speed skater from the Netherlands. She is member of the Dutch team that won the 3000 meter relay event at the World Championships in 2023 and 2024.
