The 2021 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was a cricket tournament that took place in the United Arab Emirates in November 2021. [1] [2] The matches were played with Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) status, with the top team progressing to the 2022 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament. [3] [4] Bhutan and Myanmar were originally scheduled to make their debuts at an ICC women's event. [5] Originally scheduled to take place in September 2021, the tournament was postponed in May 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [1] [6]

Contents

Nepal's preparations included a three-match WT20I series against Qatar in Doha the week before the qualifier. [7] Bhutan and the United Arab Emirates scheduled two warm-up matches against each other in Ajman. [8] The second match of the tournament, between Hong Kong and Nepal, was the 1,000th WT20I to be played. [9] The United Arab Emirates won the tournament, winning all five of their matches, progressing to the World Cup Qualifier. [10] Nepal's Sita Rana Magar was named as the player of the tournament. [11]

The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup was the eighth ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. It was played in Australia from 16 October to 13 November 2022. In the final, England beat Pakistan by five wickets to win their second ICC Men's T20 World Cup title. Sam Curran was named the Player of the match and also the Player of the tournament.

The 2019 ICC Women's Qualifier Asia was a cricket tournament that was held in Thailand in February 2019. The matches were played as Women's Twenty20 Internationals (WT20Is), with the top team progressing to both the 2019 ICC Women's World Twenty20 Qualifier and the 2021 Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournaments. The fixtures took place at the Terdthai Cricket Ground and the Asian Institute of Technology Ground in Bangkok.

The 2019–20 Oman Pentangular Series was a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament, that was held in Oman in October 2019. Originally scheduled to be played between four teams, it was increased to five. The series was played between Hong Kong, Ireland, Nepal, the Netherlands and hosts Oman ahead of the 2019 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament in the United Arab Emirates. All the matches were played at the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Muscat.

The 2019 Thailand Women's T20 Smash was a women's T20I cricket tournament held in Bangkok, Thailand from 12 to 19 January 2019. The participants were the women's national sides of Thailand, Bhutan, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal and United Arab Emirates, as well as a Thailand 'A' side. Matches were recognised as official WT20I games as per ICC's announcement that full WT20I status would apply to all the matches played between women's teams of associate members after 1 July 2018. The matches were played at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground and the Terdthai Cricket Ground, both in Bangkok. Thailand won the tournament after winning all of their matches.

The 2022 Asia Cup Qualification was a men's cricket tournament which took place in Oman in August 2022 to determine qualification for the 2022 Asia Cup. The 2020 editions of the ACC Western and Eastern regional T20 tournaments were held in February and March of the same year by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Thirteen teams competed, with the aim of progressing to the qualifier. These were scheduled to be followed by the Asia Cup Qualifier tournament in Malaysia, which was due to be played in August 2020. However, in July 2020 the Asia Cup was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in the postponement of the qualifier. In May 2021, the Asian Cricket Council confirmed that there would be no Asia Cup in 2021, with that edition of the tournament deferred until 2023. It was later announced that there would be a T20I Asia Cup in 2022, to be hosted by the United Arab Emirates.

The 2022 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier was an international women's cricket tournament held in September 2022. It was the fifth edition of the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier and served as the qualification tournament for the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup tournament. The top two teams from the qualifier tournament would progress to the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa.

The 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was a tournament that was played as part of qualification process for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in October 2021. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full international status to Twenty20 men's matches played between member sides from 1 January 2019 onwards. Therefore, all the matches in the Regional Qualifiers were played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). The Asia Qualifier consisted of two sub-regional groups, A and B, with the groups being played in Qatar and Malaysia respectively. The winners of each sub-regional group progressed to one of two global qualifiers. On 2 September 2021, the ICC announced that Group A had been moved from Kuwait to Qatar.

Theertha Satish is an Indian-born cricketer who plays for the United Arab Emirates national cricket team as a left-handed top order batter and wicket-keeper.

The 2022 ACC Women's T20 Championship was a women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) cricket tournament that was held in Malaysia from 17 to 25 June 2022. The tournament was organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the top two sides qualified for the 2022 Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup. The series was the last to be played at the Kinrara Academy Oval before the ground closed on 30 June 2022.

The 2023 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier is a cricket tournament that forms part of the qualification process for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The first stage of the qualification pathway in the Asia region consisted of two sub-regional qualifiers, held in July and September 2023 in Malaysia and Qatar respectively.

The 2022 United Arab Emirates Women's Quadrangular Series was a women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) cricket tournament that was played in Dubai from 10 to 13 September 2022. The participants were the women's national sides of United Arab Emirates, Thailand, United States and Zimbabwe. The tournament provided all four teams with preparation for the 2022 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier.

The 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier was a cricket tournament that formed part of the qualification process for the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup. The Asia Qualifier was hosted by Malaysia in August and September 2023. The two teams to reach the final of the qualifier tournament progressed to the global qualifier.
