The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Global Qualifier Group A is a cricket tournament that is scheduled to be played in February 2022 in Oman, [1] [2] as one of two global tournaments that together form the final stage of the qualification process for the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. [3] [4] [5] In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full international status to Twenty20 men's matches played between member sides from 1 January 2019 onwards. Therefore, all the matches in the Global Qualifiers will be played as Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). [6]
Global Qualifier A will be contested by eight teams that advanced from their Regional Finals, were eliminated in the first round of the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, or were one of the highest ranked sides not already qualified to this stage. [7] [8] The eight teams were placed in two groups, with two sides from each group advancing to the semi-finals. [9] The two teams that reach the final of the Global Qualifier will advance to the 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in Australia. [10] Immediately, prior to the Global Qualifier, Ireland, Nepal, Oman and the United Arab Emirates are scheduled to play in a quadrangular series at the same venue. [11]

The Oman national cricket team is the team that represents the country of Oman and is governed by the Oman Cricket Board, which became an Affiliate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2000, and gained Associate status in 2014. The national side has played matches at Twenty20 International level. On 24 April 2019, Oman achieved One-Day International status for the first time until 2022, after they beat tournament hosts Namibia by four wickets in 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two.

Gaby Hollis Lewis is an Irish international cricketer who made her senior debut for the Irish national team in July 2014, aged only 13. The 2019 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier was a cricket tournament held during October and November 2019 in the United Arab Emirates to determine which teams would qualify for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament. The six teams finishing highest in the qualifier tournament joined Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in the first group stage of the 2020 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The tournament formed part of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier series, with the Netherlands winning the final.

On 3 May, the International Cricket Council (ICC) expanded the men's T20I rankings to include all current Full Member and Associate members of the ICC, featuring 80 teams. In the women's rankings, Australia women lead both the WODI and WT20I tables.
The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup is scheduled to be the eighth ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament, scheduled to be played in October and November 2022 in Australia. Originally, the tournament was to be held in 2020, however, in July 2020, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that the tournament had been postponed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In August 2020, the ICC also confirmed that Australia would host the rearranged tournament in 2022, with the T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in India in 2021 as originally planned, but was later moved to UAE and Oman. On 21 January 2022, the ICC confirmed all the fixtures for the tournament. Hosts Australia are also the defending champions.

The 2021 Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier was an international women's cricket tournament that was held in Zimbabwe in November and December 2021. The tournament was the final part of the qualification process for the 2022 Women's Cricket World Cup. All of the regional qualification tournaments used the Women's Twenty20 International format. The tournament was the fifth edition of the World Cup Qualifier, with the fixtures played as 50 overs matches. Originally, the top three teams from the qualifier would have progressed to the 2022 Women's Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. The top three teams, along with the next two best placed teams, also qualified for the next cycle of the ICC Women's Championship.
Sandeep Goud is an Omani cricketer. In February 2019, he was named in Oman's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the 2018–19 Oman Quadrangular Series in Oman. He made his T20I debut for Oman against the Netherlands on 15 February 2019. Five days prior to his T20I debut, he played in Oman's Development XI team, in a twenty over fixture against Ireland, top-scoring with 55 not out. He made his List A debut for Oman against Scotland on 19 February 2019, following the 2018–19 Oman Quadrangular Series.
Rahul Asher is an Omani cricket umpire. In July 2017, Asher was selected to umpire in matches in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup qualification tournament in Singapore. In October 2018, he was one of the umpires who officiated in matches in the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Three tournament in Oman. In April 2018, he was appointed to the Development Panel of ICC Umpires.

The sub regional tournaments were scheduled to take place in June and July 2021 in Finland and Belgium, with the regional final taking place in October 2021 in Spain. The 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup qualification were a series of regional qualification tournaments to determine the final five places at the 2022 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Seven tournaments in five regions were scheduled to played. In March 2021, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Division 2 tournament in Asia had been cancelled. The Division 2 tournament in Africa was initially postponed, before it was also cancelled. In August 2021, the ICC also announced that the Americas, Asia, and EAP regional qualifiers had all been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, Canada, the United Arab Emirates and Papua New Guinea all qualified directly to the 2022 Under-19 Cricket World Cup based on their past performances in the last five regional qualifiers. In the African group, Uganda won the Division 1 tournament to become the final team to qualify. In the European group, Ireland beat Scotland in the regional final to qualify. However, in November 2021, the ICC confirmed that Scotland had replaced New Zealand in the 2022 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, after New Zealand were forced to withdraw due to the extensive mandatory quarantine restrictions placed on the return of minors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2021–22 Oman Quadrangular Series is a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that is scheduled to take place in Oman in February 2022. The participating teams will be the hosts Oman along with Ireland, Nepal and United Arab Emirates. All competing teams will be using the series as preparation for the T20 World Cup Global Qualifier Group A which is scheduled to begin on 18 February 2022.
The United Arab Emirates cricket team are scheduled to tour Oman in February 2022 to play three One Day International (ODI) matches at the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Muscat. The fixtures form part of the 2019–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 tournament, and have been arranged to make up for matches between the two sides that were previously postponed during the fourth and eighth rounds of the competition.
