2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier

The 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier was a cricket tournament that formed part of the qualification process for the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup. The first stage of the tournament was Division Two, which featured eight teams and was held in Botswana in September 2023. [1]

Contents

Botswana and Kenya qualified for Division One, after reaching the final of the Division Two tournament. [2] Kenya defeated Botswana by 9 wickets in the final. [3] [4]

The finalists in Division Two advanced to Division One, [5] which featured six seeded teams and was played in Uganda in December 2023. [6]

In Division One, Zimbabwe and Uganda reached the final and therefore qualified for the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier. [7] Zimbabwe defeated Uganda in the final. [8] Zimbabwe's Modester Mupachikwa and Precious Marange were the top run scorer and top wicket taker, respectively, in Division One. [9]

The finals tournament were originally scheduled to be held in September 2019, but were moved to March 2020, with the original host city being Nairobi, Kenya. On 9 March 2020, the tournament was postponed again due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in line with the Kenyan government's 30-day ban on international gatherings. The tournament was eventually rescheduled for September 2022.

The 2022 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier was an international women's cricket tournament held in September 2022. It was the fifth edition of the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier and served as the qualification tournament for the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup tournament. The top two teams from the qualifier tournament progressed to the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa.

The 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier was a cricket tournament that formed part of the qualification process for the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup. In an expanded qualification pathway for women's cricket in Europe, this was the first time that a second division was included. The first stage of the tournament was Division Two, held in Jersey in May and June 2023. Six teams played in Division Two, with the top two sides progressing to Division One, which was played in Spain in September 2023. The top two teams in Division One advanced to the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier along with Ireland, Sri Lanka and six other regional qualifiers.

The 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier was an international cricket tournament held in April and May 2024 in Abu Dhabi. It was the sixth edition of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier and served as the qualification tournament for the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup tournament.

The 2023 Victoria Series was a women's Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that took place in Uganda in April 2023, the second edition of the Victoria Series. Zimbabwe had won the first edition in 2019, but they did not defend the title in this edition due to other commitments. The venue for all of the matches was the Lugogo Stadium in Kampala. The five-team tournament was contested by hosts Uganda, as well as Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and United Arab Emirates. The tournament provided all teams with preparation for the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier.

The 2023 ACA Africa T20 Cup Qualification process consisted of a series of two cricket tournaments, organised by the Africa Cricket Association, that determined the eight teams that advanced to the 2023 ACA Africa T20 Cup.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Continent Cup T20 Africa</span> International cricket tournament

The 2023 Continent Cup T20 Africa was a men's Twenty20 Intertnational (T20I) cricket tournament that was played in Nairobi, Kenya, in June 2023. The tournament was organised by the International League T20. The participating teams were Kenya, Botswana, Rwanda and Uganda. The tournament was to be contested as a single round-robin followed by semi-finals and a final, but this was changed to a double round-robin and a final after the withdrawal of Nigeria, and later to a triple round-robin and final after the withdrawal of Tanzania. All of the matches were played at the Gymkhana Club Ground.

The 2023 ACA Africa T20 Cup was a cricket tournament that was played in Benoni, Gauteng, South Africa in December 2023. Uganda were the defending champions, having won the inaugural edition in 2022. Two qualification events were played to determine the seven teams to join Uganda in the tournament.

The 2024 Kwibuka Women's T20 Tournament is a Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket tournament that is scheduled to take place in Rwanda from 30 May to 8 June 2024. It will be the tenth edition of the annual Kwibuka T20 Tournament, which was first played in 2014 in remembrance of the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. The participating teams will be Botswana, Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda and Zimbabwe A. The tournament will consist of a round-robin stage, after which the top two sides will advance to the final. Rwanda are the defending champions, having won the tournament for the first time in 2023.
