The NAIA Football National Championship is decided by a post-season playoff system featuring the best National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) college football teams in the United States. Under sponsorship of the NAIA, the championship game has been played annually since 1956.
Roland Vincent Massimino was an American basketball coach. He served as the head men's basketball coach at Stony Brook University (1969–1971), Villanova University (1973–1992), the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (1992–1994), Cleveland State University (1996–2003), and at Northwood University's Florida campus, which was sold in 2014 to Keiser University (2006–2017). He reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament five times and reached the NAIA Seminfinal twice.

The tournament will conclude on December 16 with a single game, played as the 62nd Annual NAIA Football National Championship. The game featured two undefeated teams that met in the semifinal round of the 2016 tournament, including the defending national champions, the #1-ranked Saint Francis Cougars. Their opponent was the #2-ranked Reinhardt Eagles, in only the 5th year of the program's existence. In the end, it was Saint Francis that prevailed by a final score of 24–13. This was only the 5th time a team has managed back-to-back championships in the history of NAIA football.

The 2023 Northwestern Red Raiders football team is an American football team that represented Northwestern College of Orange City, Iowa, as a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) during the 2023 NAIA football season. In their eighth year under head coach Matt McCarty, the Red Raiders compiled a 14–1 record, won the GPAC championship, and were ranked No. 1 among all NAIA programs at the end of the regular season.
The 2023 Keiser Sehawks football represented Keiser University as a member of the Sun Conference during the 2023 NAIA football season. Led by 6th-year head coach Doug Socha, the Seahawks compiled an overall record of 12–2 with a mark of 7–0 in conference play; winning the Sun Conference.
