The 2024 Men's T20 World Cup qualification was the process by which teams qualified for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. [1] A series of regional qualification tournaments determined the teams which will take part in the tournament, this format of qualification was newly introduced in November 2021. [2] [3]

Contents

In total, 81 countries took part in the regional qualification process, from which eight teams qualified for the T20 World Cup. Regional tournaments were held between July 2022 and November 2023—Europe qualifier (32 teams), EAP qualifier (9 teams), Americas qualifier (6 teams), Asia qualifier (15 teams) and Africa qualifier (19 teams).

Groups of the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup

The 20 qualified teams were divided into four groups of five teams for the group stage of the tournament. [4] Teams are placed in alphabetical order.

Africa qualifier

The African qualifier had two stages, the sub-regional qualifier and the regional final. [1] With the top two teams from the two sub-regional qualifiers advancing to the regional final. Both of the sub-regional qualifiers were held in Rwanda. [6] [7]

Namibia and Zimbabwe directly qualified for the regional final after receiving a bye due to their participation in 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Similarly, Uganda also received a bye after taking part in 2022 global qualifiers. The regional Final was held in Namibia.

Americas qualifier

The Americas qualifier was held in two stages, the sub-regional qualifier and the regional final. [1] [2]

The sub-regional qualifier was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Belize withdrew from the qualifier in February 2023. Top three teams advanced into the regional final, [15] where they were joined by Canada who received a bye into the regional qualifier after taking part in 2022 global qualifiers. The regional final was held in Bermuda. [16]

Asia qualifier

The Asian qualifier was also held in two stages, the sub-regional qualifier and the regional final. [2] [21]

In the sub-regional phase, Qualifier A was held in Doha, Qatar while Qualifier B was held in Pandamaran, Malaysia. [22] The table-toppers of each qualifier advanced into the regional final, where they were joined by United Arab Emirates who directly qualified for the regional final after participating in 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Bahrain, Hong Kong, Oman and Singapore also received a bye into the regional qualifier after taking part in 2022 global qualifiers. The regional final was held in Nepal.

East Asia-Pacific qualifier

The East Asia-Pacific qualifier was also held in two stages, the sub-regional qualifier and the regional final. In the sub-regional phase, Qualifier A was held in Port Vila, Vanuatu while Qualifier B was held in Sano, Japan.

The table-toppers of each qualifier advanced into the regional final, where they were joined by Papua New Guinea and Philippines who received bye into the regional final after taking part in 2022 global qualifiers. The regional final was held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Europe qualifier

The European qualifier was held in two stages, the sub-regional qualifier and the regional final. [3] Sub-regional phase consisted of three tournaments, Qualifier A and Qualifier B were held in Vantaa, Finland while Qualifier C was held in Ghent, Belgium. [34] [35]

The winners of each qualifier advanced into the regional final, where they were joined by Ireland and Scotland who directly qualified for the regional final after participating in 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, Germany and Jersey also received bye into the regional final after taking part in 2022 global qualifiers. [36] The regional final was held in Edinburgh, Scotland. [37]

It was the fifth edition of the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier and served as the qualification tournament for the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup tournament. The top two teams from the qualifier tournament progressed to the 2023 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa.

The 2024–25 ICC Men's T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier is an ongoing cricket tournament that forms part of the qualification process for the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. The Qualifier will confirms the two entrants from the European region who will join England and Ireland, who have pre-qualified by progress in the 2024 finals and by world ranking respectively, in the 2026 finals.

The 2024 Women's T20 World Cup qualification was the process by which teams qualified for the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Bangladesh. A series of regional qualification tournaments determined the teams which will take part in the Global Qualifier in April and May 2024, where the two finalists qualify for the World Cup. The qualification process was announced on 10 April 2022.

The 2026 Men's T20 World Cup qualification is the process by which teams will qualify for the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. A series of regional qualification tournaments will determine the teams which will take part in the tournament.
