David Wayne Parks was an American football wide receiver and tight end in the National Football League (NFL). The 2011–12 Big Ten Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2015, followed by the start of the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. The season marked the first season of participation of the Nebraska Cornhuskers men's basketball team in Big Ten competition. With the addition of Nebraska, all teams will play seven other teams twice and four teams once during the conference schedule, which continues to be 18 games. The season commenced on October 14 when Michigan State and Minnesota celebrated Midnight Madness and three more conference schools hosted events on the 15th. For the fifth consecutive season, all conference games were broadcast nationally with eight aired by CBS Sports, 36 carried by the ESPN Inc. family of networks including ESPN and ESPN2, while 64 games were carried by the Big Ten Network. The conference led the nation in attendance for the 36th consecutive season.

Natalia Cristina Valentín León, also known as Natalia Valentín-Anderson is a Puerto Rican volleyball player. She is a member of the Omaha Supernovas of the Pro Volleyball Federation and the current captain of the Puerto Rican national team.

The 2016–17 Big 12 men's basketball season is the ongoing 21st season of basketball for the Big 12 Conference. Team practices began in October 2016, and were followed by the start of the regular season on November 11. Conference play began on December 30, 2016 and will conclude with the 2017 Big 12 men's basketball tournament, beginning March 8, 2017 at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. Jordan Bernard Murphy is a Puerto Rican-Virgin Islander professional basketball player for the Leones de Ponce of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN). He played college basketball for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. He is the all-time Golden Gopher career rebound and career double-double leader. He ranks second in Big Ten Conference history in career rebounds. Following his college career he has had multiple stints with teams in the NBA G League and multiple stints with the Leones de Ponce of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional.

The 2022 NCAA Division I women's volleyball tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 64 teams that determined the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I women's volleyball national champion for the 2022 season. The 42nd edition of the tournament began on December 1, 2022, in various college campuses across the country, location determinations were chosen based on participating teams seedings. The tournament concluded with the championship game at CHI Health Center in Omaha on December 17, when Texas defeated Louisville 3–0. The win gave Texas its 4th national title and first since 2012.
