The 28th Annual South African Music Awards was the 28th ceremony of the South African Music Awards. The ceremony was broadcast on SABC 1 hosted by Lawrence Maleka and Nandi Madida on August 28, 2022.
Nominees were announced on June 7, 2022. [1] Zakes Bantwini lead the nominations with seven each, ahead of Msaki with 5 nominations. [2] [3]

Mukengerwa Tresor Riziki, best known by his stage name Tresor, is a Congolese-born singer, songwriter, music producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist. Asanda Lusaseni Mvana known professionally as Msaki, is a South African composer, singer, and songwriter. Born and grew up in East London, during her childhood she was involved in musical activities. Her career in music began in 2008, at the age of 20, when she was a member of alternative rock band while attending college.
