The A5147 is a road in northern England that runs from Maghull in Merseyside to Scarisbrick in Lancashire.
It begins off the A59 road in Maghull, where it is called Liverpool Road North. After leaving the town, it crosses over the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Lydiate. It passes the Scotch Piper Inn before entering Lancashire at Downholland Cross.
It crosses over the canal twice more, then proceeds onto Haskayne and Halsall, passing through open countryside, before terminating at its junction with the A570 road in Scarisbrick. In total the road is about 7.5 miles (12 km) long, and is built entirely to single carriageway standard.

The A59 is a major road in England which is around 109 miles (175 km) long and runs from Wallasey, Merseyside to York, North Yorkshire. The alignment formed part of the Trunk Roads Act 1936, being then designated as the A59. It is a key route connecting Merseyside at the M53 motorway to Yorkshire, passing through three counties and connecting to various major motorways. The road is a combination of historical routes combined with contemporary roads and a mixture of dual and single carriageway. Some sections of the A59 in Yorkshire closely follow the routes of Roman roads, some dating back to the Middle Ages as salt roads, whilst much of the A59 in Merseyside follows Victorian routes which are largely unchanged to the present day.
The M57 motorway, also known as the Liverpool Outer Ring Road, is a motorway in England. Designed as a ring road for Liverpool, it is 10 miles (16 km) long between Tarbock Green and Switch lsland, and links various towns east of the city, as well as the M62 and M58 motorways.

Scarisbrick is a village and civil parish in West Lancashire, England. The A570, the main road between Ormskirk and Southport, runs through Scarisbrick, and much of the village lies along it. As a result, it does not have a traditional village centre, though the junction with the A5147 is close to the geographic centre.

The Weavers' Triangle is an area of Burnley in Lancashire, England consisting mostly of 19th-century industrial buildings at the western side of town centre clustered around the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The area has significant historic interest as the cotton mills and associated buildings encapsulate the social and economic development of the town and its weaving industry. From the 1980s, the area has been the focus of major redevelopment efforts.
The Burscough Junction Station Crash occurred on 15 January 1880 at the Burscough Junction railway station on the Liverpool to Preston railway line in England. The line was operated by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway company at the time. There were nine people killed in the accident and more than fifty people were injured.
Maghull Brook is a minor river (brook) in Merseyside, England, that is a tributary to the River Alt in the Alt catchment. Located entirely in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, Maghull Brook forms the boundary between the civil parishes of Maghull and Lydiate.
