The 23rd Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards (generally known as ARIA Music Awards or simply The ARIAs ) took place on 26 November 2009 at the Acer Arena at the Sydney Olympic Park complex. [1] [2] The ceremony was telecast on the Nine Network at 8:30pm that night. [1] The nominees for all categories were announced on 8 October, [1] [3] with the winners of the Fine Arts Awards and Artisan Awards announced on 10 November. [4] [5] Biggest winners for the year were Empire of the Sun which collected a total of seven awards. [1]
The ARIA Hall of Fame inducted: Kev Carmody, The Dingoes, Little Pattie, Mental As Anything and John Paul Young. [6]
The ceremony was hosted by Gyton Grantley and Kate Ritchie with presenters including Ruby Rose, Missy Higgins, Powderfinger, Orianthi, Vanessa Amorosi, Guy Sebastian, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Richard Wilkins, Lee Kernaghan, Daniel Merriweather, Jabba, Jason Dundas, Natalie Gruzlewski, John Butler, Keith Urban, Tim Ross (Rosso), Cassie Davis, Andrew G, Jimmy Barnes, Marieke Hardy, Lindsay McDougall, Rove McManus and Robbie Williams. Performers were The Temper Trap, Keith Urban, Jessica Mauboy, Hilltop Hoods, Empire of the Sun, Sarah Blasko, Lisa Mitchell, Kate Miller-Heidke, Sydney Children's Choir, Ladyhawke and Robbie Williams, who performed his new single "Bodies". [1]

The following were inducted into the 2009 ARIA Hall of Fame on 27 August at Melbourne's Forum Theatre: [6]
In 2009, the generalist categories were determined by the "voting academy", which consisted of about 1000 representatives from across the music industry. (See pie chart at right for percentage breakdowns.)
Members of the academy are kept secret. Membership is by invitation only. An individual record company may have up to eight members on the academy. The only artists eligible to vote are winners and nominees from the previous year's awards.
Patricia "Little Pattie" Thelma Thompson OAM is an Australian singer who performed as a teenage singer in 1960s surf pop and then in adult contemporary music. Her debut single from November 1963, "He's My Blonde Headed, Stompie Wompie, Real Gone Surfer Boy", achieved No. 2 chart success in Sydney and peaked at No. 19 on the national Kent Music Report. She appeared regularly on television variety programs, including Bandstand, and toured supporting Col Joye and the Joy Boys. Little Pattie was entertaining troops during the Vietnam War in Nui Dat, Vietnam, as an Australia Forces Sweetheart, when the nearby Battle of Long Tan began on 18 August 1966. In 1994 she received the Vietnam Logistic and Support Medal "in recognition of her services in support of the Australian Armed Forces in operations in Vietnam."
Kevin Daniel Carmody, better known by his stage name Kev Carmody, is an Indigenous Australian singer-songwriter and musician, a Murri man from northern Queensland. He is best known for the song "From Little Things Big Things Grow", which was recorded with co-writer Paul Kelly for their 1993 single; it was covered by the Get Up Mob in 2008 and peaked at number four on the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) singles charts.
"From Little Things Big Things Grow" is a protest song recorded by Australian artists Paul Kelly & The Messengers on their 1991 album Comedy, and by Kev Carmody on his 1993 album Bloodlines. It was released as a CD single by Carmody and Kelly in 1993 but failed to chart. The song was co-written by Kelly and Carmody, and is based on the story of the Gurindji strike and Vincent Lingiari as part of the Indigenous people's struggle for land rights in Australia and reconciliation.
Kate Melina Miller-Heidke is an Australian singer-songwriter and actress. Although classically trained, she has generally followed a career in alternative pop music. She signed to Sony Australia, Epic in the US and RCA in the UK, but since 2014 has been an independent artist. Four of her solo studio albums have peaked in the top 10 of the ARIA Albums Chart, Curiouser, Nightflight, O Vertigo! and Child in Reverse. Her most popular single, "The Last Day on Earth", reached No. 3 on the ARIA Singles Chart after being used in promos for TV soap, Neighbours, earlier in that year. At the ARIA Music Awards Miller-Heidke has been nominated 17 times.
Christopher William "C.W." Stoneking is an Australian blues singer-songwriter, guitarist and banjo player. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2009 Jungle Blues won Best Blues and Roots Album; he was also nominated for Best Male Artist, Breakthrough Artist – Album, Best Independent Release and Best Cover Art. Gon' Boogaloo peaked at No. 17 on the ARIA Albums Chart and won at the 2015 ARIA Music Awards for Best Blues & Roots Album.
The 21st Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards were held on 28 October 2007 at the Acer Arena at the Sydney Olympic Park complex. Rove McManus was the host of the event. The nominees for all categories were announced on 19 September, while the winners of the Artisan Awards were announced on that same day.
"Running Back" is the debut single of Australian R&B recording artist Jessica Mauboy, featuring American rapper Flo Rida. The track was written by Mauboy, Audius Mtawarira, and Sean Ray Mullins, and was produced by Audius. "Running Back" was released for digital download on 19 September 2008 as the lead single from Mauboy's debut studio album, Been Waiting. Mauboy felt "so excited and honoured" to work with Flo Rida, calling it a dream come true.

Cannot Buy My Soul: The Songs of Kev Carmody, or more simply Cannot Buy My Soul, is a 2007 double-CD compilation tribute album featuring various artists performing tracks by Australian singer-songwriter Kev Carmody. They were brought together by rock musician, Paul Kelly, who also performs on a track. Artists include Dan Kelly, the John Butler Trio, the Waifs and Clare Bowditch.
The 26th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards were a series of award ceremonies which included the 2012 ARIA Artisan Awards, ARIA Hall of Fame Awards, ARIA Fine Arts Awards and ARIA Awards. The latter ceremony took place on 29 November at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, and was telecast on Nine Network's channel Go! at 7:30pm. The final nominees for ARIA Award categories were announced on 3 October as well as nominees and winners for Fine Arts Awards and Artisan Awards. There was no peer judged "Single of the Year" category this year due to replacing it to "Song of the Year", although the "Album of the Year" category returned. The Highest Selling Single and Album categories were removed as they were in 2010.

The latter ceremony occurred on 1 December at the Star Event Centre, and was telecast on Nine Network's channel Go! at 7:30pm.
The ARIA Music Award for Best World Music Album, is an award presented within the Fine Arts Awards at the annual ARIA Music Awards. It was inaugurated in 1995 as Best Folk/World/Traditional Release. The ARIA Awards recognise "the many achievements of Aussie artists across all music genres", and have been given by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) since 1987.
The 28th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards are a series of award ceremonies which include the 2014 ARIA Artisan Awards, ARIA Hall of Fame Awards, ARIA Fine Arts Awards and ARIA Awards. The latter ceremony took place on 26 November at the Star Event Centre, and was telecast by Network Ten.

The ARIA Awards ceremony were held on 27 November 2019 and broadcast from the Star Event Centre, Sydney around Australia on the Nine Network. Guy Sebastian hosted the ceremony, he also performed his track, "Choir", and won two categories.
The 2020 ARIA Music Awards are the 34th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards and consist of a series of awards, including the 2020 ARIA Artisan Awards, ARIA Hall of Fame Awards, ARIA Fine Arts Awards and the ARIA Awards. The ARIA Awards ceremony occurred on 25 November 2020, with Delta Goodrem as host. However, due to COVID-safe restrictions, it was without an audience and was broadcast from the Star Event Centre, Sydney on the Nine Network around Australia. In place of the usual Red Carpet event, a pre-show was broadcast from The Star's backstage and was hosted by Ash London and Mitch Churi. The pre-show had 16 awards presented ahead of the main ceremony.
