Active Citizens – Movement of Cypriot United Hunters (Greek : Ενεργοί πολίτες – Κίνημα Ενωμένων Κύπριων Κυνηγών) is a conservative political party in Cyprus that promotes sustainable animal hunting and the conservation of the natural environment. It was founded on April 22, 2018, in Larnaca and it is led by Nikolas Prodromou. [1] [2]
The party advocates for habitat conservation and responsible hunting practices, [3] with a focus on promoting hunting and environmentalism through the educational system. [4] It strongly opposes the development of Akamas, describing the cape as a "little heaven on earth" that must remain "virgin". [5]
The party promotes the "traditional constitution of the family", vocally opposing same-sex marriage, which it describes as "insane" and "against human nature". [6] [7] [8]

The Democratic Rally is a Christian democratic and liberal-conservative political party in Cyprus led by Annita Demetriou. The party was founded on 4 July 1976 by veteran politician Glafcos Clerides. Two leaders of the party have served as presidents of Cyprus, Clerides from 1993 until 2003 and Nicos Anastasiades from 2013 to 2023.
The Athens Polytechnic uprising occurred in November 1973 as a massive student demonstration of popular rejection of the Greek military junta of 1967–1974. It began on 14 November 1973, escalated to an open anti-junta revolt, and ended in bloodshed in the early morning of 17 November after a series of events starting with a tank crashing through the gates of the Athens Polytechnic. It is believed that approximately 40 people were killed by the Greek army on that day, and more than 2,000 were injured. This was the first event in a series of political crises that ultimately led to the fall of the junta in the summer of 1974, just a few months later.

Michalis Paraskevas is a Cypriot lawyer who has been described as an activist and as a politician. His activism work primarily concerned the rights and well-being of refugees, and opposition to the austerity policies of the Cypriot government. He was an independent candidate for the European Parliament.

The Greek Solution is a political party in Greece founded by Kyriakos Velopoulos. The 2024 European Parliament elections in Cyprus was held on 9 June 2024 as part of the 2024 European Parliament election. This was the fifth parliamentary election since Cyprus’s EU accession in 2004.
Presidential elections were held in Cyprus on 5 February 2023. No candidate received a majority of the vote in the first round, so a runoff was held on 12 February. Incumbent president Nicos Anastasiades of the Democratic Rally (DISY), who won the presidential elections in 2013 and 2018, was ineligible to run due to the two-term limit mandated by the Constitution of Cyprus.
