The municipalities of East Timor are divided into 65 administrative posts (former subdistricts). [1] Each administrative post is divided into several sucos. Sucos are divided into several aldeias, the smallest political division of East Timor.
East Timor is divided into 14 municipalities, which are former districts. One municipality is also a Special Administrative Region (SAR). The municipalities are divided into administrative posts, and further subdivided into sucos (villages). Atauro Island was initially a part of Dili Municipality, but became a separate municipality on 1 January 2022.
Baucau is the second-largest city in East Timor, after Dili, the capital, which lies 122 km (76 mi) to its west.
Dili Municipality is one of the 14 municipalities, formerly districts, of Timor-Leste, and includes the national capital Dili. The municipality had a population of 277,279 as of 2015, most of whom live in the capital city.
Baguia, officially Baguia Administrative Post, is an administrative post in Baucau municipality, East Timor. Its seat or administrative centre is Alawa Leten, and it has ten sucos.
Tilomar, officially Tilomar Administrative Post, is an administrative post in Cova Lima municipality, East Timor. Its seat or administrative centre is Casabauc.
The administrative posts of East Timor are subdivided into 442 sucos ("villages") and 2,336 aldeias ("communities"). Sucos have been a key to administration since the 20th century, under Portuguese, Japanese, Indonesian, and independent rule.
The Sahen River is a river in East Timor. It originates in central Manatuto municipality, flows in a mostly southerly direction, and then discharges into the Timor Sea at the southern tip of the border between Manatuto and Manufahi municipalities.

Barique, officially Barique Administrative Post, is an administrative post in Manatuto municipality, East Timor. Its seat or administrative centre is the town of Uma Boco in the suco of Uma Boco, and its population at the 2004 census was 4,781.
Manatuto, officially Manatuto Administrative Post, is an administrative post in Manatuto municipality, East Timor. Its seat or administrative centre is the suco of Sau.
Alas, officially Alas Administrative Post, is an administrative post in the centre of Manufahi municipality, which lies in the centre of East Timor. Its seat or administrative centre is Mahaquidan, and it is divided into five sucos: Aituha, Dotik (Dotic), Mahaquidan, Taitudac und Uma Berloic.
Passabe, officially Passabe Administrative Post, is an administrative post in the Oecusse municipality and Special Administrative Region (SAR) of East Timor, which is an exclave surrounded on three sides by Indonesian West Timor. Its seat or administrative centre is the suco of Abani. In the 2004 census it had a population of 7,531 people in 1,153 households. Passabe is a small village (sulo) in the administrative post, very near the Indonesian border. It was the site of a massacre of East Timorese by pro-Indonesia militias in the follow-up to the 1999 referendum for East Timor's independence.
Aileu, officially Aileu Administrative Post, is an administrative post in Aileu municipality, East Timor. Its seat or administrative centre is Suco Seloi Malere, in the town of Aileu.
Ainaro, officially Ainaro Administrative Post, is an administrative post in Ainaro municipality, East Timor. Its seat or administrative centre is the suco of Ainaro.
Venilale, officially Venilale Administrative Post, is an administrative post in Baucau municipality, East Timor. Its seat or administrative centre is Uatu Haco.
Tutuala, officially Tutuala Administrative Post, is an administrative post in Lautém municipality, East Timor. Its seat or administrative centre is the village and suco of Tutuala.
Pante Macassar, officially Pante Macassar Administrative Post, is an administrative post in the Oecusse municipality and Special Administrative Region (SAR) of East Timor. Its seat or administrative centre is the suco of Costa.
The South Laclo River is a river in the Manufahi municipality of East Timor. It flows southwards, and then southeastwards, into the Timor Sea.
