He had previously served in the Colorado House of Representatives for eight years, before being elected to the Senate in 2008. He represented District 8 from 2009 through 2011, when he became director of the Colorado Tourism Office, after which the district was represented by his wife, Jean White.
Albert "Al" Cosad White was an American diver who competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics. He competed collegiately for Stanford University, and was also the captain of Stanford's gymnastics team, which won the Pacific Coast Conference championship in 1921.
