Alex Ebel (November 14, 1932 – December 6, 2013) was a science fiction and fantasy illustrator. Ebel painted the poster for the original Friday the 13th (1980), and an unused poster for Friday the 13th Part 2 .
His illustrations for book covers include Galaxies and The Sun by Isaac Asimov, Evil Earths by Brian Aldiss, Ability Quotient by Mack Reynolds, Homefaring by Robert Silverberg and one of his most famous, The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin.
His art for magazines includes Space Science Fiction , Heavy Metal and Fantastic Story Magazine .
In addition, he illustrated for World Book.

The Chesley Awards were established in 1985 by the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists to recognize individual artistic works and achievements during a given year. InterGalactic Medicine Show was an American online fantasy and science fiction magazine. It was founded in 2005 by multiple award-winning author Orson Scott Card and was edited by Edmund R. Space Science Fiction was a science fiction magazine published by Space Publications, Inc. of New York and The Archer Press Ltd. of London that ran for eight issues from May 1952 to September 1953. Space was edited by Lester del Rey and featured a book review column by George O. Smith.
