Alfred Lawson (1869–1954) was a baseball player and manager and later a figure in the early aviation industry.
Alfred William Lawson was a professional baseball player, manager, and league promoter from 1887 through 1916 and went on to play a pioneering role in the U.S. aircraft industry. He published two early aviation trade journals.

Jermaine Jay Charles Lawson is a professional cricketer. A fast bowler from Jamaica, he played at Test and One Day International (ODI) level for the West Indies during the early 2000s, becoming the fourth West Indian to take a Test hat-trick. Lawson later moved to the United States, and made his debut for the American national cricket team at the World Cricket League Division Three tournament in October 2014.

Arthur Lawson (1908–1970) was a British art director. He had a long association with film directors Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, beginning in 1943 when he was floor manager on The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp. Three years later, when Powell and Pressburger, also known as The Archers, made A Matter of Life and Death, Lawson had graduated to assistant art director. He worked with Alfred Junge on the sets for Black Narcissus in 1947, and earned an Oscar for the set designs on The Red Shoes in 1948. Lawson’s association with Powell continued right through to Peeping Tom (1960). He received a BAFTA nomination for The Bedford Incident in 1965.
The New Zealand national cricket team toured Australia in the 1980-81 season and played 3 Test matches. Australia won the series 2-0 with one match drawn. This was followed by a one-day series, which included the match that featured the underarm incident.

It was built in 2009 and it is home to the Florida A&M University basketball team. The arena replaced Jake Gaither Gymnasium, which is a 3,365-seat multi-purpose arena. The Alfred Lawson, Jr. Multipurpose Center is the second biggest arena in Tallahassee right behind the 12,500 seat arena, the Donald L. Tucker Center. The official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was April 8, 2009.
