Amadjuak (uh-MA-joo-ak) [3] is a former [4] Inuit settlement on southern Baffin Island in the Canadian territory of Nunavut. Amadjuak Bay is 4 km (2.5 mi) south, on Hudson Strait. [5]
The Hudson's Bay Company opened a trading post, #B380, at Amadjuak in 1921 and it remained in operation through 1933. [6] [7]
The artist, Ningeeuga Oshuitoq, was born at Amadjuak Camp in 1918. [4]

Baker Lake is a hamlet in the Kivalliq Region, in Nunavut on mainland Canada. Located 320 km (200 mi) inland from Hudson Bay, it is near the nation's geographical centre, and is notable for being Nunavut's sole inland community. The hamlet is located at the mouth of the Thelon River on the shore of Baker Lake. The community was given its English name in 1761 from Captain William Christopher who named it after Sir William Baker, the 11th Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company.

Nunavik Inuit have occupied these islands since time immemorial and gained constitutionally-protected harvest and access rights under the Nunavik Inuit Land Claim Agreement signed in 2007.
