Speed skating at the 1976 Winter Olympics, was held from 5 to 14 February. Nine events were contested at Eisschnelllaufbahn Innsbruck. This was the first Olympics which included the men's 1000 metres, and the first change to the men's program at the Olympics since the elimination of the all-round event in 1928.

The European Figure Skating Championships are an annual figure skating competition in which figure skaters compete for the title of European champion. In most years, the event is part of the ISU Challenger Series. The competition is named after the Nebelhorn, a nearby mountain. Medals may be awarded in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The Fritz-Geiger-Memorial Trophy is presented to the team with the highest placements across all disciplines.
Roxana Hartmann, née Luca is a Romanian former competitive figure skater. She is a ten-time Romanian national champion and represented her country at two Olympics. She qualified for the free skate at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, four European Championships, and two World Junior Championships. Her best ISU Championship result was 15th, which she achieved at the 2002 Junior Worlds and 2005 Europeans.

Evgeni Krasnopolski is a Ukrainian-born Israeli retired pair skater. Krasnopolski and Andrea Davidovich were the first pair representing Israel to qualify for Israel at the 2014 Olympics. They finished 15th in Sochi. Krasnopolski competed with Danielle Montalbano from 2009 to 2012. He competed for Israel at the 2018 Winter Olympics with Paige Conners in figure skating in pairs skating and a team event in Pyeongchang, South Korea. He and Hailey Kops competed at the 2021 CS Nebelhorn Trophy and qualified to compete for Israel at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
