The music on this album is heavier than in later Savatage albums, where the band developed their own style of progressive metal. It has also been cited as a key inspiration for the then-burgeoning thrash metal scene.

This is the first album featuring Mike Park on drums and Martin Buus on lead guitars. This is also the final album to feature founding member Henrik "Kral" Andersen on bass guitar and death growls.

The album primarily blends melodic death metal with power metal, with almost all the vocals being clean ones. This was due to the absence of a dedicated growling vocalist, which Mercenary has otherwise employed. Growled vocals would return with 2008's Architect of Lies.

With this album, Mercenary continued along with their death metal roots, but also started to explore their sound with power metal elements, as well as clean vocals done by Mikkel Sandager.
Nine Destinies and a Downfall is the third studio album by the Norwegian gothic metal band Sirenia. It was released on 23 February 2007 through Nuclear Blast. The enhanced CD of the digipak edition contains a bonus track, the video for the song "My Mind's Eye" and multimedia software. The music video was produced and directed by Serbian film company iCODE Team, being the first of the band. In March 2007 a second video was released, "The Other Side".

Soundtrack for the End Times is the eighth studio album by the Danish melodic death metal band Mercenary. It is their first album in 10 years, since their 2013 album Through Our Darkest Days, and their first album with new drummer Martin Nielsen who joined the band in 2019.
