An arrondissement (pronounced [aʁɔ̃dismɑ̃] ; Haitian Creole : awondisman) is a level of administrative division in Haiti.
As of 2015 [update] , the 10 departments of Haiti were divided into 42 arrondissements. [1]
Arrondissements are further divided into communes and communal sections.
The term arrondissement can be roughly translated into English as district. [2] A more etymologically precise, but less allegorical, definition would be encirclements, from the French arrondir, to encircle. [3] Because no single translation adequately conveys the layered sense of the word, the French term is usually used in English writing.

An arrondissement is any of various administrative divisions of France, Belgium, Haiti, certain other Francophone countries, as well as the Netherlands.
Bombardopolis is a commune located in the hilly country of the Môle-Saint-Nicolas Arrondissement, in the Nord-Ouest department of Haiti.

Aquin is a commune in the Aquin Arrondissement, in the Sud department of Haiti. It is a port on the south coast of the Tiburon Peninsula. It had 104,216 inhabitants in 2015, up from 1,799 in 1950.
Arniquet is a commune in the Port-Salut Arrondissement, in the Sud department of Haiti. In 2015, the commune had 29,180 inhabitants.
Cayes-Jacmel is a commune in the Jacmel Arrondissement, in the Sud-Est department of Haiti. It has 36693 inhabitants. Cayes-Jacmel is down the road from Cyvadier and home to a lovely public beach and has a remarkable farmers market. The town is also home to amazing artists and artisans, including work in meticulously created miniature ships. The region's hydroelectric plant is nearby.
Cap-Haïtien is an arrondissement in the Nord department of Haiti and is the second-most important city of the country. It is known as the historical and tourism capital of the country. Cap-Haïtien was founded in 1670 by the French settler Bertrand d'Ogeron de La Bouëre. As of 2015, the population was 356,908 inhabitants. The city is governed by three mayors elected by popular vote every 5 years and also represented in the National Assembly of Haiti with one member elected every 4 years. Liancourt is a commune in the Saint-Marc Arrondissement, in the Artibonite department of Haiti. Once a communal section, a presidential decree on 22 July 2015 made it a commune.
