Associated Group (AG) was founded in 1965 by Iqbal Z. Ahmed and his father Z. Z. Ahmed (1910-1989), a former Deputy Inspector General of Pakistan Police. Today, AG is one of Pakistan's leading business houses in the energy sector. AG is Pakistan's largest producer, transporter and marketer of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). [1] AG is also in the power generation, design and conservation, aviation, and media sectors.

AG companies include Pakistan Power Resources (PPR), Jamshoro Joint Venture Limited (JJVL), Lub Gas, Mehran LPG, Pakistan GasPort Limited, AG Omnimedia, AG Publications (which publishes Newsweek Pakistan), Associated Estate Developers (AEDL), and Phoenix Aviation. AG has its headquarters at Lahore and offices in Islamabad and Karachi. It has LPG and power generation facilities in Attock, Dera Ghazi Khan, Hyderabad, Larkana, and Sheikhupura. AG's philanthropic efforts are directed through the Zohra and Z. Z. Ahmed Foundation.

AG Chairman Ahmed has been featured in Newsweek International and Forbes, and profiled on CNBC Pakistan. JJVL, Pakistan's single largest producer of LPG which represents post-9/11 foreign direct investment, has been recognised by its peers in the global energy world becoming a finalist six times, four years in a row, at the Platts Global Energy Awards held annually in New York.

Fauji Foundation, lit. Soldier Foundation), is a Pakistani conglomerates company which is active in fertilizer, cement, food, power generation, gas exploration, LPG marketing and distribution, financial services, and security services. The word "Fauji" is an Urdu word that means "soldier" and the company was set up in order to provide employment opportunities to Pakistani ex-military personnel and to generate funds for the welfare of widows, and families of martyrs.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is an Indian oil and gas refining company headquartered in Mumbai. Since 2018, ONGC has owned a majority stake in the company. The company is ranked 367th on the Fortune Global 500 list of the world's biggest corporations as of 2016. On 24 October 2019, the company became a Maharatna PSU.

Energy in India Overview of the production, consumption, import and export of energy and electricity in India

Since 2013, total primary energy consumption in India has been the third highest in the world after China and United States. India is the second-top coal consumer in the year 2017 after China. India ranks third in oil consumption with 22.1 crore tons in 2017 after United States and China. India is net energy importer to meet nearly 47% of its total primary energy in 2019.

Electricity in Pakistan is generated, transmitted, distributed, and retail supplied by two vertically integrated public sector companies, Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) responsible for the production of hydroelectricity and supplied to the consumers by the power distribution companies (DISCOS) under the Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO). Currently there are 11 distribution companies and one National Transmission And Dispatch Company (NTDC) all in the public sector, and the Karachi Electric (K-Electric) for the city of Karachi and its surrounding areas. There are around 42 independent power producers (IPPs) that contribute significantly in electricity generation in Pakistan.

Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) is an infrastructure investment fund making equity and selected debt investments. GIP is headquartered in New York City and its equity investments are in infrastructure assets in the energy, transport and water/waste sectors. GIP employs approximately 150 investment and operational professionals and has offices in New York, London and Sydney and operational headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. In total as at 2018, its portfolio companies employ approximately 21,000 people.
