Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings plc is a British independent manufacturer of luxury sports cars and grand tourers. It was founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. Steered from 1947 by David Brown, it became associated with expensive grand touring cars in the 1950s and 1960s, and with the fictional character James Bond following his use of a DB5 model in the 1964 film Goldfinger. Their sports cars are regarded as a British cultural icon. Aston Martin has held a Royal Warrant as purveyor of motorcars to the Prince of Wales since 1982. It has over 150 car dealerships in over 50 countries on six continents, making them a global automobile brand. The company is traded at the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. In 2003 it received the Queen's Award for Enterprise for outstanding contribution to international trade.
Aston Villa Football Club is an English professional football club based in Aston, Birmingham. The club competes in the Premier League, the top tier of the English football league system. Founded in 1874, they have played at their home ground, Villa Park, since 1897. Aston Villa were one of the founder members of the Football League in 1888 and of the Premier League in 1992. Villa are one of only five English clubs to have won the European Cup, in 1981–82. The 1887 FA Cup Final was a football match between Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion at the Kennington Oval. It was the final of the fifteenth staging of the FA Cup which saw 124 teams compete for the final. The final was won by Aston Villa with goals coming from Archie Hunter and Hodgetts to give Aston Villa a 2–0 victory.
The 1920 FA Cup Final, the first since the end of the First World War, was contested by Aston Villa and Huddersfield at Stamford Bridge. Aston Villa won 1–0, with the goal coming in extra time from Billy Kirton, to clinch the trophy for a record sixth time. This was the first ever F.A. Cup Final to require extra time to be played.

The 2011–12 Aston Villa F.C. season was Aston Villa's 137th professional season; their 101st season in the top-flight; and their 24th consecutive season in the top flight of English football, the Premier League. The club was managed by former Birmingham boss Alex McLeish, following Gérard Houllier's departure on 1 June 2011 after less than a year in charge. An extremely disappointing season for the club, saw them finish in 16th place and only two points off relegation. Numerous records were broken during the season including: the lowest points total in the Premier League, fewest wins in a season (7) and worst home record in Villa's 138-year history. As well as poor performances in both domestic cups – being knocked out in the third round of the League Cup and the fourth round of the FA Cup. This awful season eventually culminated in the sacking of McLeish on 14 May 2012, a day after the season had concluded.

Villa also participated in the FA Cup and League Cup. The club was initially managed by Tim Sherwood, in what would have been his first full season as manager. However, Sherwood was sacked on 25 October 2015 and later replaced by Rémi Garde on 2 November. Garde parted ways with Villa on 29 March 2016 with the club still bottom of the league. Ex-Coventry City manager Eric Black was put in temporary charge. The club were relegated from the top flight of English football for the first time since the 1986–87 season, following an away loss to Manchester United on 16 April 2016.

It was also their 144th year in existence.
The 2019–20 season is Aston Villa's 25th season in the Premier League, and their 106th season in the top flight of English football, following their promotion from the EFL Championship by winning the play-offs. It is the club's 145th year in existence.
