Privolzhskiy is a large Russian Aerospace Forces airfield and air base located near the city of Astrakhan, Astrakhan Oblast, Russia.

In August 1956, the 393rd Guards Fighter Aviation Baranovichi Red Banner Order of Suvorov 3rd degree Regiment was transferred to this airfield. [1] It was part of the 10th Air Defence Division (of the 25th independent Air Defence Corps 1960-63 and then the Baku Air Defence District 1963-73). In 1973 10th Air Defence Division was merged into 12th Air Defence Corps. In October 1992 the 529th Fighter Aviation Regiment was aborbed into the regiment and it was retitled the 209th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment now part of the 51st Air Defence Corps.[ citation needed ]

In August 1958 the creation of the 228th Mixed Aviation Regiment (Military Unit Number 28025) began in Mozdok in the North Ossetian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, North Caucasus Military District. In April 1960 it moved to Astrakhan, as it was intended for combat training at the Ashuluk Range. [2]

The base is home to the 116th Centre for Combat Employment of Air Defence Aviation which uses the Mikoyan MiG-29 under the 185th Centre for Combat Application and Combat Training for the Air Force . [3]

Ostrov is a Russian Aerospace Forces air base in Pskov Oblast, Russia located 7 km southeast of Ostrov and 57 km south of Pskov. It was subordinate to the Baltic Fleet and was a nuclear bomber facility with 15 very large revetments on the east side of the airfield and about 30 small revetments on the west side. As many as 63 Tupolev Tu-16s were based here. A US intelligence analysis in 1984 identified a normal complement of 52 Tu-16 aircraft at Ostrov. The base hosted the Russian Navy's 444th Center for Combat Employment and Retraining of Personnel Naval Aviation.

Dobrynskoye was a military air base in Vladimir Oblast, Russia. It is located near Dobrynskoye, 16 kilometers (9.9 mi) north-east of Vladimir. Dobrynskoye was an airfield of the Soviet Air Defence Forces housing fighter aircraft which appeared on aeronautical charts in the 1970s and 1980s. It housed the 145th and 157th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiments. Then, later the 288th independent Helicopter Regiment of the Moscow Military District was at the base December 1976 - April 1978, and then the 361st Independent Helicopter Regiment from 1984 to 2007. In 1989 the regiment came under the control of the 344th Centre for Combat Employment and Retraining at Torzhok. In 2002 it was reduced to a squadron.

The 1st Guards Stalingrad Composite Aviation Division is an Aviation Division of the Russian Aerospace Forces. It was originally formed as the 226th Assault Aviation Division in May 1942 and became the 1st Guards Stalingrad Assault Aviation Division for its performance in the Battle of Stalingrad. The division fought in the Melitopol Offensive, Crimean Offensive, East Prussian Offensive and the Battle of Königsberg. By the end of the war, the division had been awarded the Order of the Red Banner twice, the Order of Lenin and the Orders of Kutuzov and Suvorov 2nd class. Postwar, the division relocated to Belarus. In April 1956, it became a bomber division but was converted to a fighter-bomber unit in 1957. In 1989, it became an bomber unit again and moved to Krasnodar in 1993. At Krasnodar it became an assault unit. The division moved to Yeysk in 2002 and disbanded in 2009. It was reformed in 2013 with the addition of extra fighter units.

The 1st Air Defence Division is a military formation of the Russian Aerospace Forces. It traces its history to a corps of the Soviet Air Defence Forces, and later the Russian Air Force. The corps was headquartered at Severomorsk and was part of the 10th Air Defence Army from 1960 to 1994. It was formed as the Northern Air Defence Corps in 1957 and was assigned the designation "21st" three years later. It became a brigade in 2009 and was converted into a division in 2014.
