History
Since the Malaysian government does not allow any television station to be operated by foreigners; Hong Kong's TVB collaborated with Astro to launch Astro Wah Lai Toi. It benefits over 100 million HK dollars every year from Astro by providing 85% programs on primetime slots. Moreover, TVB is the advertising agency of Astro Wah Lai Toi and offers counselling service for it.
Astro had been mistaken for holding an exclusive right as the sole pay-TV service in Malaysia to broadcast TVB programmes; rather, it holds such right to broadcast TVB programmes on the entirety of one channel which it runs.
About 80% of the channel programmes were mirrored by Astro Zhi Zun HD until it was renamed to Astro Wah Lai Toi HD on 6 October 2014.
Astro Wah Lai Toi is made available for NJOI Prepaid from 3 June 2015 onwards.
Starting 1 April 2020, Astro Wah Lai Toi HD will begin to be exclusively available via On demand (VOD) and On the GO. Some of the successors of Astro Wah Lai Toi HD are TVB Jade Malaysia (Channel 310) and Astro AOD HD (Channel 311, SD On Channel 351).
As of 1 May 2020, Astro Wah Lai Toi HD has been completely transitioned to Video on demand.
Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) is a television broadcasting company based in Hong Kong SAR. The Company operates five free-to-air terrestrial television channels in Hong Kong, with TVB Jade as its main Cantonese language service, and TVB Pearl as its main English service. TVB is headquartered at TVB City at the Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate.

Myolie Wu Hang-yee is a Hong Kong actress and singer. She is previously managed by Hong Kong TVB television station and Neway Star. In 2011, she won Best Actress for her role in Curse of the Royal Harem, Most Favourite TV Female Character for her role in Ghetto Justice and also "Extraordinary Elegant Actress" at the TVB Anniversary Awards 2011, making her the first ever Triple TV Queen of the year. Wu left TVB in 2015.
The Greatness of a Hero is a Hong Kong television historical drama serial produced by TVB under executive producer Leung Choi-yuen. It first aired on Malaysia's Astro On Demand from 9 February to 6 March 2009 and on several TVB overseas cable channels in 2010. The Greatness of a Hero started its broadcast on Hong Kong's Jade and HD Jade channels on 2 April 2012.
Astro Zhi Zun HD began broadcasting on 16 June 2010 as Astro's first Chinese-language channel and non-English language HD channel. This channel will mirror 80% of the content on Astro Wah Lai Toi, including drama series and sitcom on weekdays, variety shows, game shows and travelogues.
Tiger Cubs II, alternatively titled Special Duties Unit II, is a 2014 Hong Kong police procedural television drama produced by TVB under executive producer Lam Chi-wah. The serial premiered on Sunday, 19 October 2014 on Jade, HD Jade in Hong Kong, TVBJ in Australia, Singapore and Astro Wah Lai Toi, Astro Wah Lai Toi HD in Malaysia. It stars Joe Ma, Linda Chung, Him Law, Oscar Leung, Mandy Wong, Benjamin Yuen and Christine Kuo as the casts of the second installment. It over the time slot previously occupied by Shades of Life.
The TVB Star Awards Malaysia is an annual awards ceremony honoring Cantonese programming achievements in Malaysia. It is produced by TVB Entertainment News, with Astro and MY FM as media partners. The ceremony was previously known as the My Astro On Demand Favourites Awards, which succeeded the Astro Wah Lai Toi Drama Awards.
